This is odd...I have about 9 bump dots on my keys and this never
happens to me. However, I got in the habit of putting it to sleep
before shutting the lid...I just hit the power button once quickly and
then select sleep. It sleeps and then I close the lid. I don't think
this would make a

Did you have an external keyboard attached? I have encountered situations
where even the PC laptop my employer provided has not gone to sleep and I
pulled it out of my backpack to find it nearly melting down
What do you mean control? If you close any laptop if goes to sleep.

If you'd like, you can bypass that dialog and put your mac straight to sleep
with Option-Command-Eject.
