Re: checkbook pro

2016-06-17 Thread Marie Lyons
I found the problem but don’t know how to fix it. Checkbook pro added a debit.
I deleted it and put it back in but the problem remains. It then added another
debit so it’s really messed up. It had nothing to do with the decimal point
being in the wrong place.

Re: checkbook pro

2016-06-16 Thread William Gallik
Marie,

I have checkbook pro on my Mac Mini and the way I would try to resolve this is
to go into the table of transactions, follow each transaction step-by-step, and
check the running balance. Somewhere in yourtransactions a list, there must be
an obvious error – I would think anyway.
Have you had any transactions that should have been $80 – perhaps a decimal
point in the wrong place?

Re: checkbook pro

2016-06-16 Thread E.T.
Have you recently had a $3 or $30 or similar transaction lately? You
may have placed the decimal point in the wrong spot. I would start at
the bottom of the entries and work your way up on the amount column. I
have had to do this a couple times.

Re: checkbook pro

2016-04-05 Thread E.T.
No. As a habit from using another program under Windows for a long
time, I prefer to log into my bank weekly and clear entries manually.
This way I do not need to wait for monthly statements and catch
potential issues quickly.

So I check off cleared entries in the resolve column.

Re: Checkbook/Checkbook Pro

2016-03-21 Thread Bill Gallik
I can’t really say how Splasm is going to design the check printing feature,
but I seriously doubt they would implement it in such a way as to allow users
to completely print a check on a blank sheet of paper. This is because the
routing, account and whatever that third number is called is printed via
magnetic ink for automation. I suppose one could purchase a printer that would
include magnetic ink, but I presume that would be a prohibitively expensive
purchase; one that most of us could not afford.

The usual process for printing checks via computer software requires the
purchase of checks referred to as “Quick Books-like” stock. These are letter
sized sheets incorporating a blank check at the top with perforations to permit
ready detachment from the bottom two thirds of the “check sheet.”

If it were up to me, I might propose a check printing design that would include
an option to use “standard checks” to be printed on a photo printer or some
such printer that could appropriately handle stock as small as a standard check.

2016-03-20 Thread Marie Lyons
How does that work with banks? I know usually the bank checks have a routing #
as well as the account #. It would be very convenient. I don’t know how many
people have had me rewrite a check that the teller couldn’t read.

Re: Checkbook/Checkbook Pro

2016-03-20 Thread E.T.

Bill,
In the Pro version, are those transfers between accounts done
automatically once you set them up? I do not do many of those but would
lile not to interact with them at all. In the old checkbook program on
Windows. its automatic. I am still getting used to this one so may just
need more time.

I looked at the Pro features and am not sure if I need that.

I so rarely write checks but it might be time to rethink that.

Checkbook Pro Inexplicably Crashing

2016-02-19 Thread Bill Gallik
I’m not at all sure what could possibly have happened to Checkbook Pro on my
Mac mini, but the last time I used it all seemed well and I did shut down
appropriately. But when I tried opening it earlier this morning I got a crash
report. I rebooted the Mac but that did not help. Can anybody offer any
thought on what in heck happened?

Audiobook Builder and CheckBook Pro free at the Mac App Store and Splasm's Online Web Store

2015-11-14 Thread Esther
Hi All,

Audiobook Builder, CheckBook, and CheckBook Pro, all of which are highly
accessible pieces of software made by Splasm Software, have been made free
on the Mac App Store. The reason is that since November 11, there has been
a problem with Mac App Store receipts that has affected many apps, causing
them to crash upon launch. Splasm Software has made these apps free until
the problem is solved, and has also made it possible to get these apps (for
free) from their onlin web store at:
http://splasm.com/store/

You can read their blog entry describing the issue at:
http://www.splasmata.com/?p=2978

These are excellent, highly accessible apps. I didn't have problems
launching the CheckBook app purchased from the Mac App Store (for free),
but I already own, and have installed, Audiobook Builder and CheckBook Pro
on my Mac. Here are the product descriptions for Audiobook Builder and
CheckBook Pro (which is the advanced version of the CheckBook). I think it
normally lists for $24.95, while Audiobook Builider normally liss for
$4.95. There are entries for these apps on the AppleVis web site. I'll
also give the Mac App Store URs but you'll probably want to go directly to
the Splasm Web Site:
http://www.splasm.com/

By the way, these programs will also work on older Macs, since Audiobook
Builder requires Mac OS X 10.5 and above, and the CheckBook afpps require
Mac OS X 10.6 and above.

Audiobook Builder by Splasm Software, Inc. (normally $4.95)
Mac App Store
URL: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/audiobook-builder/id406226796?mt=12
AppleVis Entry: http://www.applevis.com/apps/mac/lifestyle/audiobook-builder

Audiobook Builder makes it easy to turn your audio CDs and files into
audiobooks for your iPhone, iPod or iPad. Join audio, create enhanced
chapter stops, adjust quality settings and let Audiobook Builder handle the
rest. When it finishes you get one or a few audiobook tracks in iTunes
instead of hundreds or even thousands of music tracks!

Key Features:

• Audio File Joining: Already ripped your CDs to MP3 or M4A? Don't suffer
through it again - drag your audio tracks straight to Audiobook Builder.
There's no need to re-encode M4A or M4B files when they're in the same
format and have a constant bit rate - Audiobook Builder can quickly join
them together.

• Enhanced Chapter Stops: Give your audiobooks that special touch by
grouping audio files into chapters with custom names and artwork. iPod and
iTunes give you controls to move quickly between chapters while playing
your audiobooks.

• Adjustable Quality Settings: Get started with Audiobook Builder's
built-in quality presets or customize the audio settings to your personal
taste.

• iTunes Integration: Drag & drop straight from iTunes to Audiobook Builder
and build directly to the Books section in iTunes.

AppleVis Entry (only for the Pro
version): http://www.applevis.com/apps/mac/finance/checkbook-pro

Description below is for CheckBook Pro

More than a basic check register and reporting tool, CheckBook Pro features
everything in CheckBook, our powerfully simple personal finance manager,
and then some. Get a report for all of your accounts at once. Search for
transactions with any combination of criteria. Group your transactions into
folders. Change the details of a group of transactions in a single stroke.
CheckBook Pro's simply powerful data management tools make it all just
plain easy.

Precisely manage your finances

   - Find transactions with simple searches or dozens of powerful search
   criteria
   - Reconcile your accounts to the penny
   - Schedule transactions that repeat periodically, like monthly bills and
   paychecks
   - Track cash flow over time with customizable reports so you can see
where your money came from and where it's going

Pro features

   - Save complex searches as Smart Folders, so you can search again and
   again
   - Group your transactions into Folders, to tidy up or begin a new year
   - Quickly change the details for a group of transactions, instead of one
   at a time
   - Report on all your accounts at the same time
   - See pending scheduled transactions for all your accounts with a single
   reminder

Import from other personal finance apps or your bank

   - Strong support for OFX, QFX, QIF, CSV and Text
   - Import from Quicken® Essentials for Mac

Share and sync your data

   - Sync with other users on a local network
   - Sync with iCloud, when used on OS X Mountain Lion and purchased from
   the Mac App Store

And more

   - Manage accounts in multiple currencies
   - Transfer funds between accounts without creating two transactions

Checkbook Pro 2, Summaries help appreciated

2012-12-09 Thread John Sanfilippo
Hi,

I've been using Splasm Software's checkbook 2 since 2009, and moved up to Pro
sometime this year. In neither version have I managed to rap my mind around
using splits or using the summaries.

I am especially interested in getting better at using the summaries. If anyone
can help, please email me off list.

Thanks,
John S

I'd like to know the same thing.

Though my bank sends me every deposit and withdrawal that is made in my

I'd love to know about an accessible checkbook program for the Mac as well.

Wow, you got it better than most. My oldest account, I get withdrawal and
debit card alerts, but nothing much as far as deposits go. This new place
I'm battling can only send alerts when a bill goes into process, for
low/high balance thresholds, and deposits over a set threshold. To set it up
requires help because of invisible radio buttons and checkboxes. I wanted
them for ATM fee credits and remote check deposit, but not sure how I would
line the check up in the printer to get their complex endorsement that
includes the account number. I don't know, to tell the truth, why they have
24 hour service, when what you need, they have no way to do.

Checkbook Pro Help

2011-04-30 Thread Sarai Bucciarelli
Hi guys:
I could use some help. I've screwed up 1 account in CBP. The columns are not
appearing in the order I want. Somehow, the date column was moved to the last
column in the table, not the first. How can I fix this?

All:
Did you have issues registering Checkbook Pro? I purchased my license, entered
in the SN, and it says it is invalid. Help!

Checkbook Pro Questions

2010-11-06 Thread Sarai Bucciarelli
Hi All:
I'm using Checkbook Pro's demo, and I can't figure out a few things.
1. How do you get the balance of all your accounts to read? Sighted people can
see it?
2. Under the account entries table, there is an l and a t with different
totals. What is l and t?
3. When paying a credit card bill, I put the date as November 29; however the
entry isn't showing up in the table of entries, and the balance hasn't changed.
Help?
