There used to be a command: vo+return. Basically, you'd hit it once to mark the beginning, then you'd move to the end and hit it again, and that would select all the text between the two markers. I haven't gotten this reliably to work since OSX 10.5 no, that wasn't a typo, 10.5, not 6, Leopard.

Normally, yes, I’d agree. The only reason I don’t agree with you in this one case is, I think it’s needing to somehow grab API’s from both Voiceover and from, most likely, Apple Script. It can’t do that though being those are different components than what are built into the app to start with.
