Hello,
I am currently developing a VB5/MI5.5 application which displays numerous
assets on a map with a particular symbol. I have now been asked if this
symbol can be made to flash to represent the assets state. Is this an
impossible request, or has anybody got any idea how it might be

Save your work before conducting this failsafe method of crashing MapInfo:

There are a lot of Access Newsgroups on msnews.Microsoft.com
There is plenty of information on all subjects related to Access, and it
seems that the newsgroup is not sponsored by Microsoft, but through users of

I've lost the original mails, but thanks to whoever it was that asked about
linking MI objects to files, and thanks to the person that recommended the
Linkplus mbx.
I've tried this and it's a trick that I've been wondering about for ages.
But is there a way of linking the objects to Mapinfo
I'm trying to show two different attributes of point data, one attribute
ordinal, the other nominal, by varying color and symbol type. Had this
great idea to do so by overlaying thematic maps. Apparently only one
thematic map can be visible at a time, however. Is there another method?

Naw... it must just not like the way you stroke the escape key...
It doesn't crash ver 5.5 on my machine (running Win95). (Well, in
truth, I did get it to cough up its socks on th esecond try, but
I wasn't able to repeat it ever again)

This isn't unique to SQL 7, although I don't know the solution at the
moment. I'm having the same problems in SQL 6.5 and MapInfo 5 and/or 5.5

Wade,
MapInfo has an application called VHInfo that readily converts V H to Long/Lat and
vice versa.
Single user price is $695.00.
Let me know if you are interested in the product or would like more information.

I'm developing a MapBasic 5.5 OLE app with VB. I would like to

I don't have v5.5 but about 2 weeks ago there was discussion about
1) make a selection from MyTable into TEMP
2) make a selection of TEMP into Temp1
3) do close all, or back track the table, [temp1, query1, Temp, MyTable]
POOF ~ ~ MI is gone
4) also happens when exiting MI
I had the last laugh
Not a web site, but the Global Gazetteer has around 3.5 million places on
file, many with details of population, postcodes, administrative function
etc. Unique selection facilities to provide a tailored subset to meet a
project requirement (or budget requirement).

I translated an AutoCAD R13 file into MapInfo. One of the layers was
point data, but when I view the tab file in a map window they are
short lines.
Is there a way to covert these lines to points? I thought perhaps I
could change it in the tab file or even the

Hi all,
Does anyone know of a good source for US Nationwide government building locations?
A point file would do, but a file(s) containing building footprint polys would be best.
Free would be nice too.
