Hi all
I'am developing a project using MapXtreme. Before that I tried to execute the
SimpleMap.java sample application that comes along with MapXtreme. I have set all the
paths and the necessary classpaths correctly. While displaying the applet in the
browser I got the following errors.

First when converting
ph:
1. you should be assigning the pos as "55.841234" (because it is a string)
2. the note for the valpos will drop the last two digits, but still store

3. the difference, if you use the qq in [1] is 0.
When you assign 55.841234 to pos, MB must be using some internal function

All I could find to make icons was to use the resource editor found in Visual

ability for the user to nail down those blasted, floatable toolbars!
PLEASE!!! Has anyone found a fix for this???

This is probably an elementary question yet it evades me.
I have buffers of some polylines (streets) for which I want some of the same
column information. Is there some way using update or sql to update not one
column at a time but all columns say "containing from" or "is within"?
Thanks
David

Good points. To amplify on the comment about universities,
ESRI has been very smart. They get them schooled onESRI's products while

what do you think they suggest?

I noticed that since version 5.5 of MapInfo it is possible to display
a special file format called MapInfo Grid, very useful to display
elevation or other interpolated data. The only way to query the grid
is the Info Tool.
Is this feature (grid querying) accessible via MapBasic? Also, is

Hello All,
Perhaps I'm not understanding the issue (I've never had a problem with the
"floating" toolbars). This preference can be set (first arrange the
toolbars as you wish them to layout) through "Options Toolbars (uncheck
"Floating" for each toolbar, check "Save as Default") then OK. Exit
Ah yes, the response we always see when this subject comes up. There is a
BIG difference between "docked" and "locked" toolbars. I imagine Mr. Reid is

frequently going from the tools buttons to the map window and back again
MapInfo seems to be patting themselves on the back at their apparent
"success" on the stock market, and in the telecom industry, while
completely ignoring the fact that they are below the horizon of commercial
GIS software. A few examples:

The problem is that it is so easy to un-dock a toolbar when you are
working.
I watched another MapInfo user do this same thing just yesterday (then you

I've got this type of problem too. if you don't hit the

The solution would be to subclass all the toolbars and hook any "Windows"
messages to or from them. You could then ignore any drag or move messages
and pass along any mouse up or mouse down messages to the system. Are there
any API experts that want to take on the task? Of course I have to

Title: RE: MI 6.0 A plea to lock down the tool bars
Yes, that is the big problem. It's easy to dock the toolbars and set that as the default, but the real pain is when you're working fairly quickly and you accidently click between the buttons and the toolbars move around and shift locations
