Hello fellow listers.
Tomorrow, I'm going to replace all of the belts, button up the last of the
linkage bits, put the air cleaner on and take her on her first test drive.
All this talk about starters reminded me about some strange behavior

So what is the real name of them? A # like most MB's?

Bad car names? Come on guys, you aren't even scratching the surface.
(I think the real reason Germans use numbers are for the very
translations reasons names bring.)

I think officially they were marketed only as model names like every
other MB until the advent of the /8 Strichacht w114/w115 in 1968.
S-Class wasn't used until the the w116 and the silly notion of

My question is: did I add too much onto that circuit - or is my

Then I proceeded normally to install new lifter. Seems to work

There were several models that were nick-named Pontons. They included
the 180/190s (W120/121) that dated from '53 thru the early '60s (I owned
a '54 180 with a flat head 4 cylinder 52 hp engine for about a year).

Chris, yours was probably the most useful suggestion - I was driving it
yesterday and had the lights light come on the dash. Replaced both brake
lights today, I'll give it a spin later and find out if that cured it. If
not ... more work.
