Hans Yes the glow plugs can stay on sometimes the light stays on and sometimes it doesn't. To check that all you need to do is run a wire to a glowplug and connect the wire to a 12 volt lamp that has a ground. You can tape it to a wiper arm. Another thing you need to check is alt belt tension.
