High sulfur fuel won't hurt the engine, but it does cause more NOx
emissions and of course, SO3. Less soot, though -- and it is a BETTER
lubricant.
I don't know the effect on any catalytic soot reduction systems,
though, so that may be a problem.

It's possible the locks were changed, resulting in your current
dilemma. Try the trunk lock too. Another possibility is that the locks
are original, but MB has the wrong data on file for the key code for

I know from bitter experience that a backwards thermostat in a 240D is a
BAD(and stupid) thing...
On the way home last night the heat in the car was vauge at best so I'm
pretty confident replacing the thermostat will get things going. Might as well
flush the coolant while I'm there...

10F this morning. Hammie started but wasn't crazy about the idea. I remember
that the year he started real good in the very cold I was putting a dose (4oz,
not the 32oz I put in the 190D yesterday) of Diesel Kleen in at every fillup.
The new starter sure cranks better than the old one did!
