Guess I should cancel my flight plans to Florida to pick up the car then?
The 300SDL was fine at 105, as was the 450SLC. I've had both of my BMWs
over 100 - the R69S and the R100. I was worried that I would see the gas
gauge drop to zero in the SLC though ...
I do enjoy the higher speeds better when I'm well above the ground though
:-)

"Remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away."
Several court cases have now ruled that police have no duty to protect you.
They carry weapons to protect themselves. [Look it up, I'm not joking about
this issue.]
Personal comment: It's a fine mess we have ourselves made.

I had my '85 190D up to about 95mph, it had more to do and was handling fine, I
ran out of road and nerve about the police. I expect a 124 would handle just

The SD really starts to feel comfortable at about 80, it just settles
down and it is easy to creep it up close to 100 feeling very stable and
comfortable as it speeds up too. These cars were built for that.

Well that would have been from like July until October or November or
so, I guess it dried faster during the heat, and I think the cool
weather did something to it as well. I have this vague memory that
there might have been some sort of fermentation process going on too,
affecting the flavor
I wouldn’t drive that fast in anything other than a big heavy 7 series BMW or
an S Class Mercedes. At 100, my car just cruises along. Seriously, it lots
more to go and it tracks and drives great. Of course, it weighs 5000 lbs and
has a pretty wide stance and good tires.
