I, too, would love to replace my ailing Mercruiser 140 (GM four cylinder
iron duke engine) with an MB five cylinder diesel.
Anyone been there, done that?

Have you jacked the engine up a bit from the mounts? Also, it's easier
to start the threads on both ends before tightening them down.

What temp should my SD be running at?
The 84 runs just a little less than half way up the gauge. The 85 just a
quarter of the way up.
Just changed the water pump in my 94 Cummins which used to run about
half way (90 degrees C) and it's now running about a quarter of the way.

Hello all,
I have two 300SDs, an 85 with Euro headlights and an 84 with N/A lights.
I'm selling the 85 and was wanting to swap the Euro lights over to the
84. Started the process to discover the lights themselves swap easily,
but the wiring harness is different.
Anyone know how difficult the
Thanks for the response, Jeff.
What's confusing me is that the N/A system has four wires, while the
Euro has six.

Hello all,
Looking for some list wisdom.
What does it mean when the glow plug light won't go out?
My 85 300SD light often stays lit until the car starts. I wait the usual
number of seconds (I have another 300SD), before starting it.
Lately the light will come back on after the car has been r

Hi,
While I've been happy with my 85 and 83 300SDs, they don't suit our
lifestyle with the dog. Been researching the 87 300td. Looking for some

I do my own. Have two 300SDs. What I'm finding is they are taking up
more and more of my time.
I've had both VWs and Mercedes as well as BMWs. They share a number of
qualities. The VWs are less expensive to maintain and very few get close
to their mpg.

That's why I'm looking at a Jetta wagon TDI that's a few years old. The
largest part of the depreciation is gone and it will be good for another
ten years or so. By that time I'll have saved enough on fuel (over the
Benz) to buy another one.
