The KDP cracks the timing case, no obliteration. Engine generally
continues to run unaffected, but leaks oil badly. Spendy to fix,
a lot of labor involved.
I knew that it obliterated something, much of one's budget! Of course,
anytime a vehicle is in the shop at $85-100/Hr, things add up in a
pound out the old race, wipe out the lube, use the old race to drive in the
new one, regrease and reassemble.

I had a little time today, so I decided to FINALLY address the problem with
my 300CD's turn signal switch. It doesn't stay in position without being
held there which applies to both the left and right turn positions. I
pulled the switch from the column, but I couldn't determ
what was that funny looking 4 wheel drive they had? I think the 6's were 200
cid.
You must be talking about the AMC Eagle. The 6 cylinder engine were 4.2L
258 CID, and many had rear main seal problems including the one that we had.
It was a wonderful winter car while living in Bend, OR. The

in the late 70's were rwd models. I know that they put v6's in the early

My 78 300CD on its trip up from California to Oregon consistently got 28.5
MPG (no cold starts), and I doubt that it would get that kind of mileage

My '06 Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel automatic is a fine truck. The '03 6speed
was too although the auto does make it easier to drive (for those with bad
knees). The tranny seems to find whatever gear is needed, and it just keeps
on pullin'! The 04 was the first year of the 325HP 610LB/FT torque en
DARN! I was just up in Kent last weekend for a dragon boat race. Why
wasn't it for sale then?
Actually, $2200 is a bit high for needing TLC. My '81 will most likely go

I NEVER thought that I would end up with a car that has this problem, but
old Granny has decided to spring it on me! She won't shut off with the key,
so I have to use the stop button under the hood. Before this, there was a
wire under the dash that would cause the starter to cut in and out if
I haven't changed the oil filter in a while. That's the first place I
checked, and it was still connected there. If the shutoff valve checks out

came out today, I showed him all of its quirks, and he bought it. I got my
$700 out of it (probably could have gotten a bit more). I'm not sure WHEN
or IF I'll get another MB diesel project, but I'm sure one will pop

clean it up. I didn't "see" an oil drain tube. I hope that there's a

control rod. It should shift depending on accelerator input as any MB
diesel does. It sounds like your control rod or modulator is out of

I've spotted a 560sEC on CL for that kind of money, but the 380 isn't half
the engine judging by what I've heard (single row timing chain being the
