No. Glow plugs work in any gear. Did you hold the key with one hand

So just as I was about to put my 1983 300TD in storage for
the winter, the ignition switch will not energize the starter motor, but
will energize the glow plug circuitry. I can operate the starter motor
using the 30 and 50 jumper terminals under the hood. Since the glow plug
Hi Peter,

So after almost 40 years of dieseling, I inadvertently
dispensed about 2.9 gallons of 93 octane unleaded(sans ethanol) into my 1983

topped the tank off with diesel, so I now have about 15% unleaded in the
Anybody have any secret tips to accurately align the
vibration dampener during installation, other than trial and error? I tried
marking the edge of the dampener with a magic marker but missed slightly on
the first try and have quit for the day. TIA for any good tips.

When I bought some WallyWorld tires for MrTaurus last winter, the tire guy
put a torque limiter bar on the impact wrench, then burped the lugs down

He then got out a micrometer torque wrench, torqued all twenty
There have been a few recent posts suggesting that
towing with the MB transmissions may cause them to overheat. I seem to

Following up on my question of last week, I bought a 9 blade
radiator fan from Rusty for my 1983 300TD after he advised that it should
fit the stock visco clutch--it did. My unscientific tests of its cooling
effectiveness included chugging around town with the ac on, and going

I see Rusty offers a 9 blade plastic radiator fan for the
123s, compared to the stock 6 blade aluminum one. Has anyone tried the 9
blade one to see if it offers any noticeable cooling improvement? Is it
noisier?
