My understand, the aspect ration is expressed in a percentage of the width of the tire (sidewall to sidewall, not tread width). So you got it right, the 65 is the wall height, it's just represented as a percent of the width, not a number to indicate a size in itself, if that makes sense. ie, a 65

...Figured out why the speedo on the 300E is off by 5 mph (you are going 5 mph faster than what the speedo shows, as checked with GPS). The book calls for 195/65/15 and the tires on the car are 195/70/15... Which calculates out to a 3.1% difference and a 24.6 revs per mile difference.
