mine says to not use motor oil, even synthetic.
My gut feeling is that it would be fine, but there must be a reason it says

cracking. I couldn't get to all of mine to properly replace them with
the manifold in place (603 engine), but it was easy with it off.

is OK, so long as you change it often enough.
