I've decided I want a pick up truck for basic utility. Carrying stuff
around, trips to the home disappointment, etc. And towing around my
utility trailer. Overall, it would get used pretty rarely and I'd probably
share it with my brother who has the same needs.
Looking to spend under $3000.

Gotta love that $2800 Driver Assistance Package,
which includes:

Active Blind Spot Assist
Active Lane Keeping
F-250. A 1/2 ton truck is no better than a Crown Vic with a frame
(non-unibody) in terms of towing, but not obviously in terms of cargo
capability.
YMMV

The small 4-banger import trucks from the early 90's or earlier are
woefully underpowered for any kind of towing. If you want to lay a sheet
of plywood down flat in the bed or tow a car, get a Chevy 1/2 ton long bed
with a V-8.

Seconded. I have a 1/2-ton Suburban only because I occasionally need the 5
back seats. Usually they are all folded up, which gives me an enclosed,
carpeted eight-foot bed. Tows a

Get something with a Chevy 350, it's cheap, reliable as a 240d and easy to work

There is a 2-pin connector on the mono valve. One pin is always hot (+12v

2wd I presume. $3k buys almost nothing in a 4wd truck right now.
Forget Toyota, not that long ago there was a late '90s T100 nearby, 4wd,
extended cab, not a bad looking truck for the age, some rust but not a ton,
265,000 miles on the original everything, they wanted (and got I later heard)
I have to ask.. Did you get the alternator from Trent??
OK, fun over... although you have all the info, we have almost none.. why did
it get replaced? Do you know the battery is good ( I kinda doubt it, but I'm
not there ) . Have you checked the meter or repeated the measurment with
