Re: [MiKTeX] changing default PDF viewer in WinEdt 11

2024-01-04 Thread Evan Cooch
Solved part of the problem -- explicit path to SumatraPDF.exe was incorrect in the way I set it up. So, I *can* manually point WinEdt 11.1 at Sumatra, but still don't know why the 'alternative viewer buttons' are all greyed out (amongst other things...). Moreover, if I manually edit the p

[MiKTeX] user-created format files | where to put?

2021-03-11 Thread Evan Cooch
Suppose I've create a format file, which I'll call mybook.fmt. How can I make it 'permanently available' for my MikTeX install? I know there a tab in the console for 'formats', but this doesn't quite look like what I need. I don't need to 'build' (compile) the .fmt file, I simply need to put it

[MiKTeX] MikTeX on Linux | helpful hint

2020-04-24 Thread Evan Cooch
I've been using MikTeX on my Mint-based Linux machines for several months now, and really enjoy the fact that (i) it works, and (ii) well-enough that I don't have to fuss with TeXlive and the silly way it handles package management, ever again. ;-) However, while fooling and tweaking with vari

Re: [MiKTeX] includegraphics problem after latest update

2019-10-05 Thread Evan Cooch
Yes -- the problem is with the newest 'graphics' package. After (1) backing up my MikTeX directories (which you should *always* do before any update), I (2) installed all the updates, *except* 'graphics. All worked fine. But, if you then (3) install the latest update to 'graphics', I can replica

[MiKTeX] new (pdated) pgf conflicts with PSTricks...or so it seems.

[MiKTeX] problems with updates | repos 'out of date'?

Hi -- Never seen this error before (in the *many* years I've been using MikTex). When I try to check for updates, I get an error message that "The package definition file could not be parsed". The 'data' in the window in the error popup points at a .tpm file Data: path="C:\Users\ec123\AppDat
