incorrect in the way I set it up.

Never seen this error before (in the *many* years I've been using
MikTex). When I try to check for updates, I get an error message that
"The package definition file could not be parsed".
The 'data' in the window in the error popup points at a .tpm file
Data: path="C:\Users\ec123\AppDat
Applies to my query about the same issue (I didn't see Jerry's post

Earlier today, I tried applying the update for PSTricks from 2.78
(27-Nov-17 build date) to 2.80a (31-Dec-2017 build date), and doing so
