The other day I watched, once again, Sunset Boulevard on TCM.
There's a scene in the movie where Norma Desmond(Swanson) is paying a visit
to Cecil B. DeMille, who's playing Himself. Gloria Swanson is paying a
visit to an actual set, of an actual movie that was being filmed at the
time.

I see this movie so differently now that I am a lot older than Norma Desmond

In the most technical sense, Cecil B. DeMille was not working on a movie (as a
Director) at the time he appeared in Sunset Boulevard. He was of course,
involved in Pre-Production for other films and his next film as a Director
wouldn't be until a few years later. During the time of the shoot he

Who, exactly, was it, that said Don't trust anyone over 30?

No googling. Anyone can do that.

You're either a relatively well-informed DeMille enthusiast, and playing with

Hi, Everyone,
Who would think that a guy who collects and deals in movie posters would
also write children's picture books (presently in search of a publisher).
Wanted to share these Christmas stories I've written that The Santa Lady

I found out about two interesting pieces of trivia today.

Also, Michelle Triola Marvin (of Lee Marvin palimony fame), lived with Dick Van

Kind of off subject, but I've watched Samson and Delilah with my kids
several times, and it is a great movie that appeals to all ages. It has a
lot of wonderful scenes, and Victor Mature was perfect for the part
(especially how he was when he was blinded), and the end is wonderfully
filmed, and
It was all meant as an allegory to not give away the actual film title. Victor
Young, though not always credited, was attached to all of the films in question
as the creator of source and dance music.

To: 'Phillip W. Ayling' ;
Samson and Delilah was the film. It was in production a very long time as much
of the film was shot in Morocco and Algeria. The parts of that movie which were
filmed on the Paramount Lot were done mostly on Stage 18. In Sunset Blvd, the
characters talk about going to meet DeMille there.

Well, of course, it would be impossible to stump this esteemed panel.
Richard, Michael, and undoubtedly others, have answered correctly, that the
scene being shot was from Samson and Delilah.(I agree with Bruce, it's a
great movie and I loved Mature in it, regardless of Franc's unkind remark).
I watched SB a few weeks ago and I don't recall Wilcoxon in the
movie. He may be in teh SD scene they're shooting, where you can
barely see anyone. However, for those that don't know, Wilcoxon was
something of a right hand man to DeMille and was an associate
producer for DeMille in the 40s-50s
