This morning I found a Bohemian Waxwing at these coordinates on the Cottage
Grove/Saint Paul Park border (Lat 44.8096 Long -92.9811). Note: I had
previously reported this bird as Grey Cloud Island however that's not the case.
As an additional reference point this location is about a mile
The Pectoral Sandpiper found by Liz and Alex yesterday is still present today
at the Grey Cloud Island Gravel Pit in Washington County. Appears to be in

I was able to view the bird from the side of the road (not on private
property). GPS coordinates lat 44.7865 long -92.9736. I have birded this area
at these coordinates dozens of times with no issues. I have previously spoken
to multiple police officers as well and there is no concern from
Based on multiple updates I received throughout the day from birders onsite and
my own scans of the area, to my knowledge the Kittiwake was not seen today. If
I hear of any sightings in the next few days I will send an update if other
updates are not already provided by others.

Today at the Grey Cloud Dunes in Cottage Grove, Karl Isley and I found a
Short-eared Owl. I won't give specifics but I'm sure if you find some high
ground there's a good chance you'll see it hunting during their usual
hunting times.

Good evening,
I’m reaching out to all of you to share a relatively unknown great birding
location in Washington County. Riverside Park in Saint Paul Park is a great
area to bird for many reasons. In the past year the city officials and
workers have been very gracious and have allowed me to

I birded the Grey Cloud Dunes for 6 hours this morning and turned up 74
species, including 12 Warbler and 13 Sparrow species. The majority of the
Warblers were along the river, the Sparrows however, were spread all over
today as apposed to larger concentrations found in the burned area last
