Christmas Bird Count betters 34-year record high
Thirteen hardy souls birded in below-zero windchills to participate in the 35th
Sax-Zim CBC on Monday December 14. The low was ZERO and the HIGH was 6! Winds
in the 10mph range created a 10-below zero windchill. Sunn

Our 34th annual CBC eeked out a slightly above average 31 species.
Highlights included 4 Great Gray Owls (3 on Owl Ave, 1 on Arkola), 24 Evening
Grosbeaks at Sisu feeders on McDavitt, 19 Bald Eagles (only two short of our
all-time record ), 3 Black-back

The 31st Sax-Zim Christmas Bird Count was held on Monday December 19. Temps
started at 1 degree with below zero windchills and warmed to 24 degrees by 1pm
when we wrapped it up. Windy conditions prevailed during the day. Six to 10
inches of snow on the ground.

of the last 30 year's counts)

The ten participants in the 24th Consecutive Sax-Zim CBC turned up a
near-record 33 species.
Mild conditions with a low of 20 degrees and a high of 24 degrees. Snow fell
most of the day.
