A heavily streaked very tame snowy owl was observed 12:30 PM on top of a telephone pole on Hwy 169 six miles north of Aitkin on the west side. The traffic was very heavy but several pictures with handheld 500-600 mm Tamron/Canon 7D were obtained in between cars whizzing by that were acceptable.
