Last week the Metropolitan Council raised its definition of housing affordability from
$134,000 to $170,000. This was an administrative change that reflects steady
increases in home prices and incomes. It should not be misinterpreted as a shift in
policy or the affordability standard for the
side commands a
10 percent higher price than one 1,000 feet away from the station. This willingness
to pay a premium for single-family housing having light rail access is a significant
and positive land-use benefit of the light-rail transit investment the study
concluded.

Scott McGerik of Hawthorne asked: How many bicycles will each LRT car hold? Will
there be a rack on the car to hold the bicycles?
Each light rail car will be able to hold 4 bicycles on hangers inside of the car.
The low-floor cars will make it easy to roll a bicycle or wheelchair directly

plans call for at least 6 bike lockers and 10
bike loops at each station. There will also be 2 bicycle storage
hangers inside each rail car. The Metropolitan Council definitely wants
to make bike-to-rail commutes work.
