Re: RONA game
To download the game you are supposed to click on the 3 blue dots proceding the name of the game. Each dot represents 1 disk in a zip-file called: rona1.zip, rona2.zip and rona3.zip. I know. I already downloaded them. The link which is supposed to email Daniel Torrado at [EMAIL PROTECTED] has a typo in the HTML source of the page (the '' behind the email address is supposed to be a '"') But should not affect the download of the game. I didn't seriously wanted to e-mail to 40+ characters long address. I asked because I wanted to know MSX Data base. What is that ? JAM Rona seems to run on MSX2. I used to believe Rona was a turboR-only game but, even MSX-FAN 1994 April issue didn't state so. Human memory is a fragile thing. ^^; I also searched for 2-byte kanji codes or raw graphics among the sectors, but kanjis were not directly inputted in the sectors (in that case - like, Illusion City disks which contain messages in form of pure S-JIS codes - you can directly change them using hex editor), and only raw graphics in the Rona disk A was the title. Therefore quick translation is not possible. But I'm sure not many wants Rona to be translated since Rona is playable without being translated. Rona disk A also contained curious messages among the sectors, obviously written by the developing crews. Judging from dates notified among such in-sector articles, Rona really was released in early 1994. DIXIE, the distributor/developer of RONA seems to have been lost, but its parent company May-be Soft still exists as brand name, and owns own website in http://www.teck.co.jp/maybe/ . Management authority moved to another company Tech Arts, however. Takamichi Problems? contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] See also http://www.faq.msxnet.org/

A good idea?
Hallo everybody Look, I was talking with Jose Angel Morente some days ago about the -theoretical- lotsa games still to be discovered, and I had an idea. I guess it won't be anything new, but with the efervescence of this list and the activity of Japan, the chances are higher than ever. As far as I know some games were finished but never released. I'd bet my life almost every company which made MSX games or programmes has one of them completely finished ready to be released. Koei with European Battlefront (I always wanted to play Al-Alamein with Panzers!), Imagina with Sim City. It would be nice to find a Konami developer to tell if the gaps on RC list are really empty gaps or there are unknown MSX games, such as Pinball or a MSX2 snooker. And here starts my idea... MSX is theoretically dead, right? MSX is -almost- a non-profit endeavor. What about contacting those companies and asking them to release those games in a PD format? Even, if they want to sell their games 'commercially' at fairs, it could be a success. A game is always better on the streets than inside a grim, gray directory of a hard disk. Don't you think so? The 'problem' (to call it somehow) is that this initiative depends -at a first glance- mainly on Japanese users to be carried effectively. What I mean is that I dunno how Europeans -and Brazilians- could participate and help with this project. I'd rather prefer that somebody would take serious this idea and think how to execute it than starting another long and phantasizing thread. Re: Microsoft SuX
Little briefing: Kay Nishi had a lecture in last MSX Den-yu Land about the meaning of MSX, and he said that MSX isn´t Micro$oft eXtended, as we have thought. Well, MSX was Nishi´s idea, so he´s the best one in the world to talk about this subject. If Nishi really claimed that, I think he suffers a bit from 'greatnessmadness'. MSX could never have been a one-man project. And maybe he thought "let's make a new computer system standard". But at that time he couldn't have possibly known Matsushia and Sony and even more would participate in it. I think actually a lot of names have been made up, and MicroSoft eXtended (Basic) was adopted by the western countries, and Matsushia Sony X-machine (X-box???) has been adopted by the 'eastern' ones (read: Japan). Or another possibility: MSX only refers to MicroSoft eXtended in MSX Basic. The name of the computer itself is Mat... well, you know the drill. But these are all presumptions. Why didn't Kay Nishi give a reason why so much European people believed MSX to be an abbrevation for M$eXt??? And why have I never seen a written document stating MatSonyX but lots of books and documents stating M$eXt??? In other words, I have my doubts... Although the last possibility (about the Basic) seems quite probable to me. ~Grauw -- email me: [EMAIL PROTECTED] or ICQ: 10196372 visit my homepage at http://grauw.blehq.org/ Problems? contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] See also http://www.faq.msxnet.org/
