Re: [MSX] msx.org is blocking brazilian accesses

2004-04-04 Thread Eduardo Robsy Petrus
Good morning,

I am sorry if you have missunderstood my message. I was just saying that I
connect to I-Net using Telefonica and I do not have any problems. I can
perfectly view and connect to MRC. I am not insinuating anything, but thank
you for thinking always in the worst case. Please read again my message: I
was plainly saying I USE TELEFONICA - IT WORKS FINE FOR ME. Nothing more,
nothing less.

I was just adding some more information to the list, because I do not know
if Telefonica is responsible or not. Really, my technical skills do not
arrive that far.

Anyway, Sander, thank you for your confidence. I think that MRC forums are
enough to insult me, please do not continue this.

Edward Robsy

Good morning,

And I connect from Spain but using Telefonica and I can view perfectly
the
pages.

I don't think Telefonica routes your internet connection from Spain to
Brazil to the Netherlands. Do you? When the Vodafone network in the
Netherlands is down, you can probably still call in, from and to other
countries. That doesn't mean Vodafone doesn't have a problem.
So the problem is not related with Telefonica. Try to solve it: the
brazilian MSX community is one of the biggest in the world.
What are you trying to insinuate, Robsy? That we are deliberately blocking
access to our website from all South American counters??? WHY??? Or are you
implying that we are not doing the best we can to solve this problem as
quickly as possible? This isn't the first time that you are insinuating
something about the MSX Resource Center that's absolutely not true (what
was
it again, being only in it for the money? Pah!). Let it go, Robsy. The
contents of our website speak for themselves. We are there for the MSX
users, for ALL MSX USERS. There is a reason why we change webhosts that
often: we want our website to be fast and available to everybody. If there
is a problem, inform us about it and we will see what we can do about it.
24
hours ago, we were not even aware of this problem. Just because no one
bothered to inform us about it. The first ones who did (Flyguille and
Ricardo Bittencourt) were very kind and co-operative, but somehow some
people rather like to start posting conspiracy theories. I really don't see
why some people are instantly making these kind of insinuations. Maybe you
can explain.

As you can read the MRC, have a look here:
http://www.msx.org/forumtopicl3017.html
To all people who can not reach MRC at the moment: we are working on it,
but
it takes some time. You could try and use a free proxyserver to reach the
MRC. Hang in there, we will back as soon as possible. (As usual :P)

Also saying try to solve it implies that you think MRC is not already
trying to do that.

Note that I am not saying that you wrote your email with insinuations on

as an insinuating one. If you didn't mean it that way, you might want to
work on changing that.

Good going Robsy, put yourself in the victim position again!

So now you're saying Sander is insulting you?
A simple I'm sorry if my mail was understood in that way, I did not mean
it like that. would have sufficed. In stead you write a counter-attack
with false claims... It sounds like you're trying to give MRC a bad name.

If all of this is again a misunderstanding, just say so, and don't
counter-attack. That's how wars get started :(

Re: [MSX] msx.org is blocking brazilian accesses

2004-04-04 Thread FRS
Sander Zuidema and Bart Schouten,

Since this thread started by the message I sent, I believe that I owe you
a explanation.

As I respect your hard work on the msx.org, I would like to let very clear
that by no means I tried to insinuate that you were purposedly blocking
the brazilian IP range. My goal was just to report the problem and since I
coundn't reach the msx.org website to get your e-mail contact, I e-mailed
the message to the MSX mailing list.

If it sounded like insinuating something like agressive blocking, please
accept my apologies for not expressing myself properly.

My first tought was that it was a DNS problem, but after some days offline
I believed that some misconfiguration could be happended on your migration
process. I worked at an ISP once and know that this things may happen,
since there are lots of variables involved: DNS servers, dynamic routing,
firewalls, etc. Just only one piece of this mess working badly and all
your work is offline.

At last, I can assure you that I and many others are anxiously awaiting
for the msx.org return (from our point of view ;). It would be very sad
to loose your contribution to the MSX community as was when we lost the
excelent resource www.msxhans.msx2.com by Hans Otten.

And please forget those who are thinking about conspiracy theories. I will
deal with them (at least the brazilian ones) in Jau, later this year. I'll
take my LART with me and have some serious word with them.;)

Best regards and keep up the good work! :)

[MSX] MSX.org not accessible 4 Brazilian MSX-freaks

2004-04-04 Thread Ricardo Jurczyk Pinheiro
Hi lads,

I've been out for a while (too many emails to be read), then I've tried to go
to msx.org, to read news. But I
couldn't, I haven't got the site (my browser told me that the URL must be wrong). Any
problems? I've got a timeout here
in my Linuxbox (using Squid as proxy, and Firefox as Web browser). Some friends of
mine got an forbidden page when they
tried with IE.

So, anyone knows why Brazilian MSX-freaks can't access the MSX Resource
Center? Many people reported the same
problem at MSXBR-L.

Thankx in advance,

ByE!

2004-04-04 Thread Sander Zuidema
Hey people..

I've had a very tough day (a very tough week, actually), being on the road
from 7.00 to right about now. I'm sorry for my heated e-mail this morning. I
hope you can understand that (and why) I was a little frustrated this
morning, after discovering the problem yesterday and not being able to fix
things instantly. I apologize for any conclusions I drew too quickly. It was
not my intention to insult or offend anyone.

Now it's time for some coffee and a new attempt at finding and solving the
problem. Thanks for worrying so much about the MRC, it shows you care about
the site as much as we do! :)

MSX forever!

RE: [MSX] msx.org is blocking brazilian accesses

2004-04-04 Thread Marc Vallribera Ros
I had almost the same problem until www.msx.org was recently moved to
another server. My problem was that when I tried to open msx.org in my
browser (IE with Windows XP) it found the Server but then stopped there,
waiting for the page to start downloading. I tried different connections,
different DNSs, etc but always ended in the same situation. I live in Spain
but I didn't connect by Telefonica. Some friends of mine using Telefonica
didn't had this problem.

I hope this helps!

Hello all,

Does anyone know why is MRCF (aka msx.org) blocking accesses from the
brazilian IP range since tuesday (30/01)? Probably it's some kind of
misconfiguration, so it's better to check the servers.:)

FRS

Flyguille (Argentinia) also has the same problem. Accessing msx.org by
the IP I looked up for him didn't work either.

I don't think he was able to nslookup www.msx.org (which would indicate
a DNS problem, and a pretty big one! Fly mentioned something about a
missed DNS server register message or something... dunno how these
things work and propagate exactly), but I'm not sure.

If this were the case however, it definately seems like a problem caused
by the recent server change (though with a delayed effect... maybe until
now they were still seeing the old msx.org server, which got disabled
now??).
