Some new SOHO routers have QoS built in, you may be able to tweak this
to give more priority to your Mythtv traffic as well as scale the
frames packets for best throughput.

Now is it bugs in XvMC or is it the way mythtv is using it? I can play
dvd's with XvMC enabled for hours and hours and hours.. yet about 20
minutes of mythtv and ffw/rw/pause and hard lockups happen all the
time.

believe that is the purpose of the schedular, however i think you
have to actually click to accept the channel change as it shows up
like a scheduled listing in the OSD. There may be an option to
auto-change but i havn't farted around enough with that.

Is it true that you can just plug a firewire drive into the firewire
port and that will enable the PVR features of your cable box?

I would look at the Knoppmyth wiki that states what mysql command you
need to run to grant connections from your frontend. By default the
mysql grant/create statements only create a connection for localhost
and not from anything over your network.

What are you talking about? It's harder to get codecs for Redhat or

infact its one of the only distros that works very cleanly with the

I need XVMC myself on the frontend.. just a lowly celeron 733..
I put OSD fade on 0 (now i don't get ANY osd) and everything works

I will give this a shot.. i've sen mythcommflag runaway everyonce in a

whatnot causes the video to go all over the place.. (not holding keys

i've recently enabled the rencode after recording so i'm curious to

Just to be politically correct debian has what they call unstable
releases that contain all the .deb packages you could care for (recent
packages).
However Gentoo really is good if you have time to make things work.

MythTV isn't for DV if you mean from a DV source such as a camcorder
or other video format other than tv sources.. there are tons of great
applications for linux to use with camcorder video editing.

the iso available is R5A12. http;//www.mysettopbox.tv

I'm not sure any of those mentioned cards support HDMI.. would have to
get a DVI converter or component breakout box/converter for component.
As far as hdtv is concerned, i don't record much of it in myth, but it

If your XBox is that loud, your xbox has serious issues. I have 3 of

If you have modded your xbox you can replace the noisy HD.. once you
