My guess with the starting issue on that particular occasion is that

There’s a bit of a trick to bleeding the clutch and brake hydraulics. It
involves cracking the banjo bolt on the reservoirs angling the handle bars
so the banjo bolt is at the higher point. Just crack the bolt, and with
rags or whatever under and around the bolt squeeze the lever in as if you

You’re getting there but you need to connect the air box boots. You’re

nothing to worry about unless it gets louder. How many miles on the bike?

There’s a fuse down by that starter relay, not the solenoid as I said, it

Check battery voltage, what does it read, should be 12.4 or above.
Then check main fuse. It is down by solenoid, cable runs from solenoid to
battery. That fuse is really fragile. It’s behind a cover. It can look ok
and still be no good.
Again, where are you?
On Mon, Sep 21, 2020 at 2:05 PM 'AGL'
First of all, where are you located?
Did you put in new oil and filter and make sure air filter is clean or
replaced?
Pinging could be cam chain tensioner or carbs out of synch or something
else.
If you can give it a compression test. If all 4 cylinders are about the
same and above 75 psi ok. I
I have used the seal mates with pretty good success over the years, not
always but in combination with new fork fluid and cleaning, they can work
well. It depends however on the condition of the seals and of course the
fork tubes - rust or pitting, Graham

Check you’re getting spark, if so check spark plug, is it wet/black sooty
or white and dry.
If dry, it’s not getting gas, back to carb. If as you say it’s running
rich, I guess you’re saying #1 is wet or black and sooty, check the
enrichner (‘choke’) is closing properly. If it is then I’d remove

the carbs off and apart, cleaned them, replaced the air filter and put
everything back together. Getting those four carbs back in the boots
I’ve never had trouble bending either brake pedal or gear shifter just
using big pliers of sorts. Never had to heat them up. They bend pretty
easy. You can take the brake pedal off the bike and put it in a vice and go
to it or do it on the bike. If it doesn’t look bent just pry it out a

Yeah, I’m going to the hardware store this morning to look for a screw
small enough

Mounting hardware are the engine bolts. I think I may have substituted
longer bolts for existing ones, can’t remember. I do remember one of the
three bolts on at least one side was really hard to get the nut on and I
may have either left it off or couldn’t tighten it. Graham

If you’re looking for protection from wind, I don’t think 3 and half inches
will make any difference. However 10 inches, well I’ll let you know in two
weeks (if you remind me), because I ordered the 10 inch plus 2 inch wide

Changing the exhaust system In any way changes the exhaust note. I have

generation Yamaha VMAX have the best sound, Graham
