[Nighthawk Lovers] Hey loud knocking from the front of my bike on my ride to work

2019-08-14 Thread logan vandam
84 cb650sc usually has a little tic in front but on my way to work it was
really loud hollow knocking sound. Didn't seem to do it in lower rpms so I road
in fourth to get to where I needed to be. I stopped and put oil in it thinking
that may help but nothing. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

[Nighthawk Lovers] Lost keys, removed ignition need cap don't know the name of it

2018-11-02 Thread logan vandam
So yesterday my keys were lost and today I pulled my ignition to take to a
locksmith, got new keys but when I was bulking the ignition from the back of
the fuse box one of the connectors completely broke so now its just two wires
one with out the female lead on it. And I tried touching em to the male leads
and still can't get power so I'm looking for the connector that goes into the
back of the fuse box but no idea what it's called. Any help would be appreciated

[Nighthawk Lovers] Bolt broke

When trying to remove the exhaust this winter I broke the bolt that comes from
the camshaft and holds the exhaust pipes on. In the camshaft diagram it's part
15 and 16. I was wondering if there replaceable or imma have to get a new block
for it. Or maybe I can just weld em. Any help would be appreciated. And I

the coils and was still getting spark to one and four so the coils are
good. Still no spark to two and three. Was posting on this other forum and
found out that it wasn't for the nighthawk it was just for the cb650. Ran
it back to the ci ignition box. Opened it up circuits looked messed up a
bit so resoldered all the broken ones and still nothing.

Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Spark..

I tested from the coil, then through the cable off the coil, then from the
cap connected too the cable, and all seems to be getting voltage but I
don't really know how to use a multi meter very well. Are the coils able to
be switched around? If so I'll try just switching em and see.
Thanks

[Nighthawk Lovers] Spark..

2018-03-19 Thread logan vandam
Running wonderful last season. Parked in shop been working on body and just
random stuff nothing really with the motor. Started it a couple months ago to
keep myself motivated. Started right up.. Go to do it again to see what I'm
working for. And nothing just won't go. Do all the test realize I'm not getting
spark in the two middle ones. Wait for new caps to come in.. Replace em, still
nothing and cable keeps getting shorter because of trimming for maybe better
connection. So decide to get new cable. 7mm copper core cable from and old
timer motorcycle mechanic in town. Replace that and I still can't get spark.
Tried different caps and the spark plug works. So the plugs not bad. Hook up a
multimeter and it's getting voltage about the same as the ones that work. Just
the plug won't spark.. Is there a chance that it's the wrong cable. Don't think
the cylinders are out.. Any help would help my sanity.
Thanks logan

Actually figured it out after I cleared my head from frustration. As always
start at the beginning. There was a short in my kill switch. As I was moving it
I saw and arch in my rpm gage so went to test the plugs with it there and got
electricuted pretty good. And I was very happy about it. Ha and then put the
plug back and it started right up.

[Nighthawk Lovers] 84 650 electrical problem

2017-09-29 Thread logan vandam
Hey, first time posting on here have read through a lot of these and they've
been a lot of help. So here's the problem I'm having bike was running well. I
am in Montana and we were having a very hot dry smokey summer and I went away
for a weekend and it decided to down pour the whole time and seeing no rain in
the future I didn't cover my bike. When I got back it started up a little rough
I assumed it was just because it was a little colder and hasn't ran for a
couple days. Next day didn't wanna start little battery boost and draining the
carbs it started up. Went to work. Got off. Kinda the same method it started
was warming it up and then it died. No luck. Sat in a parking lot until I had a
day off. Last Sunday came down blew out all the spark plugs. Found a fray in
one cap. Through testing found it had to be in the right position to start.
Ordered a replacement cap that came last night, replaced it today and now I
have no spark in any of the wires. Not sure what's going on. Decided to take a
break get coffee because it's becoming frustrating and need to charge the
battery. So if anyone has any idea what's going on any help would be much
appreciated.
