The test case works (Acroread/properties shows the Title, Author,
Subject, and Keywords fields). However, my real case does get the other
fields (Author, Subject, and Keywords) but contains in the Title field
the filename
lecture notes with embedded pictures. I'd like to
compile the document into one form to hand out to the class (or make
available on the web) and another to be used as a presentation, much
like latex-beamer, with just the pictures.
This is in fact quite easy with ConTeXt, you can use different modes
of the box then I'd be glad

Often, I extract some values from the filename, that are used in the text,
here is a simple example:

With mkiv you can typeset xml files as pdf,
so you can also (using modes) convert it to xhtml (we have lua now).
Writing a css is not a problem, and you can also manage fonts -- after all
you know them because you need for pdf . Other infos are trivial.

probably, but first i want proper specs on which most french users agree
(so i do an extra cc to arthur who is sort of in charge of the french
tex users)
