It seems that the Tufted Duck was seen today very early in the morning

I have a friend who wants to go to Alley Pond but I have not seen any postings

A group of bidders (and a couple of photographers) saw the Nelson's Sparrows
this afternoon (after 3PM, like other days). We counted at least three of them
that were pretty active between 4:30 and 6:00 PM (high tide) in the same area

There was a Long-eared Owl in the park today. Following the rules of this list,
I cannot disclose the specific location. There were many birders enjoying the
bird and we had pretty good views of the bird. This is shot of the owl with its

Yesterday (Monday, 9-10) I drove down to West Windsor (NJ) to see and take
pictures of the Crested Caracara.
I was there between 11:30AM and 4:30PM and the bird was quite active, feeding
in the fields and sometimes being harassed by a couple of Kestrels and in one
occasion by a Merlin falcon.
Yesterday (Th. 5-31-12), the male did show up in the morning and in the
afternoon. Apparently, the female has not been seen in the past couple of days
and people suspect that she may be in the nest. BTW, the best time to see the
bird (based on the behavior of the male Kite) is early in the

I just read this posting in NJ birding at Birdingonthe.Net. It seems that the
area where the Kites are building their nest will have some restrictions
regarding access and birders interested in going there to see the birds should
be aware of the situation.

I arrived in Sterling Forest this morning about 9AM, after reading an early
posting by Karen Fung about the Mississippi Kite(s). Karen was still there and
the Kite had been around for a while but at that time it was gone. I spent the
entire day over there and I saw many birds (Indigo, Golden
