at Jones West End and the swale very briefly at each, routed by MOSQUITOES.
They're back in force; beware, The bar was empty and the swale is dry, so we

This morning about 7:30 AM, I saw a large raptor on a light pole just north of
the Meadowbrook Parkway toll booths. It was a very quick glance of the back. I
thought it was one of the Ospreys that are seen on the poles at this time of
year, but the bird had an all white head. When I

bar at the Coast Guard Station at low tide. Here there were several hundred

little activity. Not much doing, but outstanding views of the warblers. Our
target bird, a Tennessee Warbler, was at Little Alley Pond. A Philadelphia
Vireo, reported before we arrived, could not be found.

not see a single shorebird. However, Sanderling and Semipalmated Sandpipers
were scattered all over the wrack line from there to the jetty. At the jetty

Joe Giunta and I (Sy Schiff) birded Alley Pond Park this morning for several
hours. We saw a mix of mostly breeding/resident birds (some of which, of
course, may be migrants). The most interesting was more than a dozen
RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS. The Spotted Jewelweed

Joe Guinta and I (Sy Schiff) tried to bird the East Pond this morning and
barely got past the entrance. The recent rains have raised the water level
almost completely negating the recent draw down . Moving along the edge is a
challenge as it now is a virtual
with proper orbital ring color and charcoal back,
but had very worn BROWN greater coverts and tertials. My photos do not match
anything in the books. An adult in arrested development?
