Tern. Earlier I found the same shorebirds (minus the godwit) on
the flats at Cupsogue, plus one Greater Yellowlegs and one Semipalmated
Plover.
I was surprised to find three godwits at this spot as late as two weeks ago
on 27 October, and more surprised to find still there today.

I set out for the flats at Cupsogue this morning at dawn - I found at least
six Marbled Godwits out there, as well as one Whimbrel, several "western"
Willets, and a Pectoral Sandpiper among the 51 species of birds and 17

Among the 34 species I found this morning at Smith Point County Park in
Suffolk County were both crossbills - a flock of 9 White-wings and a single
cooperative female Red. Also fun for me were 36 Boat-tailed Grackles, 15
Northern Gannets, 2 Fox Sparrows, and 26 Savannah Sparrows.
