I looked at the following page today:

http://incubator.apache.org/openofficeorg/pmc-faqs.html

and noticed that the moderators listed are out of date. I was actually
going to update this page when I decided maybe the moderator listing
would be better put *with* the mailing lists on the mailing list page:

http://incubator.apache.org/openofficeorg/mailing-lists.html

Maybe leave the section on the responsibilities of the moderators on the
PMC page, but move the actual names.

And...I do wish there was a way to track these down easily. :/
I will look into ezmlm a bit more but I imagine you need some uber
capabilities.

Thoughts on this idea?

IMHO, getting an updated/accurate list is more important than the
location. Rule of thumb: Do the google search you think someone
would use to find the info, maybe Openoffice mailing list
moderators. The PPMC FAQ page comes up first. The NL mailing list
page comes up second, and the normal mailing list comes up 4th.
Unexpected is that the 3rd page for that query is our Papiamento NL
page. Papiamento is evidently a Caribbean creole language.

So, as long as we have links from the top pages for the expected
queries, then we're looking good, yes?

My opnion:

 ooo-commits - 2
 ooo-dev - 3
 ooo-issues - 2
 ooo-notifications - 2
 ooo-private - 2
 ooo-security - 2

Must be at least two.

To be clear Dennis is already handling the ooo-private moderation changes on

If you are a project committer we will use your apache-id, if not then so

We definitely could use another moderator for ooo-users-fr.

Changing the moderator list in the site can proceed once we finalize the
changes. If anyone think we should delay changes past the 24 hours please
 say so.

Maybe start the clock after a proposal is made on ooo-dev?

I was leaving time for volunteers to step up. I wasn't thinking that any
particular moderator would be controversial.

Is your concern about a particular list like ooo-security? I can see having a
longer process for that. I don't see the need for waiting so long for the
others, but I am certainly willing to wait. Let's see what the community thinks.

Is there a reason why this discussion cannot be on ooo-dev?

To be clear Dennis is already handling the ooo-private moderation changes on
ooo-private. They changes have been exposed on this thread already.

If you are a project committer we will use your apache-id, if not then so
far we have your email and will use that.

More volunteer moderators are welcome. Dennis has good email threads about
 moderation duties.

We definitely could use another moderator for ooo-users-fr.

Let's see what the community
 thinks.

Thanks for asking. My concern was that it looks like you are seeking
lazy consensus on a set of changes without actually listing what the
changes are. Or at least it is not clear to me what exactly is being
proposed.

 Dave

I think the action list and number of moderators needed is:
 ooo-commits - 2
 ooo-dev - 1
 ooo-issues - 2
 ooo-notifications - 2
 ooo-private - 2
 ooo-security - 2
 ooo-users - 2
 ooo-users-fr - ?

This list is not moderated in the normal way. Instead all emails are
automatically rejected unless from apache.org email addresses. So the
list had extremely low moderation volume, maybe one per month. I'll
stay as list moderator.

Of course more are welcome.

I have never seen a moderation request from that list.

As mentioned before this list does not moderate posts. But moderators
are still needed to handle list subscription requests, though these
are very rare. Probably should add Juergen.

Note that I have several of these moderator lists already on the
website. It would be good to keep that web page uptodate.
