Heya,
It didn't take long for Novell to realize the Achilles heel of its
Linux program. Before doing/planning anything extravagant, perhaps
someone responsible for maintaining this forum could absorb the pride
take a look at what the Fedora Core community is doing.
That's pretty much what

Hi Eric
If you don't mind, I like
`pkg-get` is not an LPMS as you'd call it, it's a
script that adds `apt-get` like functionality and
uses Sun's native SVR4 software management subsystem.
If this is the case then pkg-get is a Hyper PMS only support Solaris OS.
Sorry, I did not research pkg-get's architecture.

There exist 2000+ packages in this format for HP-UX alone. See e.g.

Hi swalker,
It should be possible to combine OpenPKG with apt-get
(apt4rpm) as well.
Are you using apt4rpm with Solaris 10 and OpenPKG?
Having some trouble getting it compiled. Are there any other alternatives?

I thought we are still in hope that the SVr4 pkg system
will become OpenSource soon.
Lets start working on solutions anyway. Just in case you run out of breath
while you hold it while waiting for Sun to release. Why rely on kindness on the
long term when a solution on the short term is needed?

Not a big issue for me, just FYI.

Yep. After rolling out the iSCSI initiator on Solaris, the team are working on
the iSCSI target mode implementation. But I am not sure about the specific
iSCSI opensoalris roadmap, both the initiator and target. For the iSCSI status
