all inputs/outputs muted when the modules are loaded. After that one can
adjust the mixer settings manually and save them as defaults by running
the savemixer utility. This should work up to some degree in the current

that pick noise from some unused input(s).
Defaulting to all muted doesn't work. Typical users don't realize that
