to the birth
process.
If there is any reason this should impact on the method of birth can someone
enlighten me/us?

Hi Kelly
One of my babies had a 'turned' foot at birth, physio involved massaging the
foot at each breastfeed and it was fine after a few weeks.

I am compiling a list of Obs/carers who will support a woman for vaginal
breech birth as I am seeing more breech women pop up and think they have no
choice, booked in for caesars at 37-38wks. So if I can at least help them
find a supportive carer, it makes it a heck of a lot easier to accept other

I think it would be great to have a list of both Waterbirth and Vaginal
Breech Service providers.does anyone have the time or resources to do
it? There is one hitch I know of with some vaginal breech providers.

Hi Kelly,
Great idea! It would be good too if you could put a note next to each name with
their 'management' ideas eg. some Ob's will say they support vaginal breech
births, but infact they inforce a breech extraction with epidural etc. And
others who insist on a woman lying down and are very

Hi Monica,
thanks for the reply. Your right the practitioner is all important and
that's the case for any birth. It is a shame that we are fast running out
of clinicians with the right skill here but it's a vicious circle of if
noone does it no one can get the skills to do it.

Hi all,
Why are breech (sometimes) routinely CS'd. What risks are they
actually trying to avoid for the baby?

Hi all,
Had the honour of assisting a 38 year old primip to successfully birth
her breech baby vaginally yesterday in a large hospital.
She has been told she had to have a c/section but negotiated her way to
trying a vaginal delivery. We drew up birth plan specifying freedom of
position, midwife
Congratulations, Sue, and thanks for sharing a real win. Love Gloria in

Hi all
What a great story Sue, that doesn't happen much.
Recently we had a breech birth at our small rural hospital. Not
meant to happen.
Primip, booked for ECV and immediate CS if not succesful though
she certainly did not want that.
Came in and had a precipitate labour, managed to drop a foot out

One day a little breech baby will seek you out and you'll be fine supporting it's mother.
Make sure you all support this student and buy her a copy of Maggie Banks book Breech Birth Woman-Wise so she knows there is another way.

What is even more sad, is
thatmost of these girls (students)have never seen a physiological
third stage let alone vaginal breech or twin birth. Something so simple
and natural is becoming a thing of the past.
I'm a 2nd year. One of our "young"
students (17) attended her first birth last
