Oh, Sure, I record from Radio 4 BBC nearly every day.
I also record from cassettes with MP3DirectCut, as soon as you press the
space bar when you finish, the recording is saved automatically as
fast
  as
  you hit the spacebar.
Then you have a great recording, instantly.
You can select whatever bitrates sampling as you please.
There are numerous features which I haven't found as yet.
You can fade in fade out.
You can split large files into separate tracks.
I'll never go back to SoundForge or Goldwave.

eliminating gaps in recording music cds

2004-11-10 Thread chrissie
Hi Folks

Can anyone tell me how, in Easy CD Creator 6, one can eliminate gaps between
tracks in a music cd. I'm compiling a programme concerning several events I've
just been to but want to have the individual files and have them run straight
into each other.

Many thanks

Re: eliminating gaps in recording music cds

2004-11-10 Thread Andrea Sherry
Hi In Nero there is a checkbox in the properties of the tracks to cross-fade
between each. So far as I can remember Easy CD Creator has this feature as
well. May be you need to select all but the first track and change the pause
length from 2 seconds (the default) to 0. It seems that many burning
programs require that 2 second pause to exist at the beginning of the first
track - or may be it is a software issue.
Cheers

Re: eliminating gaps in recording music cds

2004-11-10 Thread Denny Daughters
Hi Chrissie and list,
Here's how to get rid of the gaps between the tracks. Go to the file
menu in Easy CD creator. go to the record cd dialogue. When you get there,
there's an option that probably says track at once which is a T for future
reference. This is a strange option because to access it you hit the
letters when you're on the option rather then checking a box. So when you
get there, you'll probably see t for track at once. This puts a 2 second
gap between the tracks. You want to hit I for disk at once. This still
puts your cd in to tracks, you now won't have the gaps between the tracks.
The difference is that for the disk at once option, the laser doesn't stop
burning during the recording procedure. With the track at once option
turned on it stops recording for 2 seconds before burning the next track,
thus causing the 2 second gap. Hope that helps.

Re[2]: audio help files for MP3DirectCut

2004-11-10 Thread djc
Thanks Rob for an excellent Job. I'd like to explain that once and a while
you may run in to a strange problem with mp3 direct cut. Have you heard an
mp3 that has a loud tick at the beginning of the file? I had one this
morning and mp3 direct cut refused to play the file. I could page up and
down but I couldn't fix this file with mp3 direct cut as the loud tick was
stopping the file from playing. It ticked and then there was a second and
the music would start but mp3 direct cut couldn't fix it so I had to take
it in to Sound Forge and fix it their. Mp3 Direct cut is a fine editor but
I would use it in conjunction with your other editing tools.

Re: running nero 6.6 demo

2004-11-10 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi Jay.

Check out these notes and see how you get on.

Using Nero to burn a compilation from tracks stored on your hard drive

1.. Start Nero from the desktop or programs menu.
2.. Select CD from the choice of medium that can be written to by Nero.
Tab to Next and press enter.
3.. Select compile a new CD from the radio buttons. Tab to Next and
press enter.
4.. Now choose the format of the CD you would like to burn. Select Audio
from the radio buttons if you want a CD that will play in standard CD
players or select Data if you want a CD that will be used to contain MP3
tracks that will only be played in an MP3 player. Tab to Next and press
enter.
5.. Press enter on the Finish button and the compilation window will be in
focus.
6.. Use the keystroke windows + E to start Windows Explorer.
7.. Locate the tracks you wish to add to your compilation by browsing the
folders on your hard drive where they reside.
8.. For selected tracks, use the keystroke control + C to copy them to the
clipboard.
9.. Press alt + tab to bring the Nero compilation window back into focus.
10.. Use the keystroke control + V to paste the tracks into the
compilation.
11.. Repeat steps 7 through 10 until you have added all of the tracks you
want to include in your compilation.
12.. You may now want to reorder the tracks in your compilation. To do
this, use the keystroke control + X to cut the track to the keyboard then
use the up and down arrow keys to locate the track that you wish to
immediately follow the track you've just cut to the clipboard. Use the
keystroke control + V to paste the track into the compilation and it will
then appear at this point. NOTE: this reordering is only possible if you
have chose audio format and not possible for data format.
13.. When you are ready to burn your compilation, close all running
applications so that Nero is not competing for your computer's resources.
14.. To burn the compilation, press alt + F to open the file menu and then
press W to open the Burn dialogue.
15.. Tab to the Burn button and press enter.

Re: running nero 6.6 demo

2004-11-10 Thread Jay Williams

Thanks, Kevin. Actually I mucked around enough and found the add button
and all that and managed to burn a cd, but I'm glad to have a set of
reliable controls that you've tested.
Hfappy holiday season,
JayAt 07:29 PM 11/10/04 -, you wrote:

 Hi, Kevin,
Thanks for that reassurance. I got a successful cd copy, Now, the problem
is
how to do an audio cd. I think I'm getting all the options to make the
proper cd, but I can't seem to get it to look in my Mymusic directory
where the files are that I wanna put on the cd. When I type in the path
and
name of the file, it says that the path doesn't exist. Please walk me

 everyone may not need this.
 Thanks, much,

Shawn, only that its faster easier to use, its faster because there's
NO
conversion involved, NO .wav files or conversion involved.
When you record with MP3DirectCut, the audio is recorded as MP3
directly,
 no
 wave files, hence its name:
 MP3DirectCut.

Denny

Rob,
Thank you so much for these instructions. I had downloaded the program

suggested it, I would suggest that you consider submitting this as a

looking for good quality technical material.

Just one question ... I installed the lame.dll file into the program folder
but probably not in the right place because I cannot get it to show up among
the encoders. Where do I need to put it so that it will be recognized and
how do I configure it? Many thanks.

Hi, can you record telephone interviews with total recorder? If so, how do
you tell the program to find the modem, or what am I looking for in the
menu. I downloaded a program called cal-corder and I am not sure yet if
this will work for me, but having total recorder and the registered version,
I thought if I can do the interviews with that then,. Please advise.

Maximizing a Vorbis File's Volume

2004-11-10 Thread Bruce Toews
I recorded a file in OGG Vorbis, and saved the file without maximizing the
volume first. Is there any way I can maximize the file's volume without
decompressing and recompressing the file with the resultant quality loss?

Hello, you should let Dave Williams know at ACBRadio.org and see if he will
include this in a Main Menu program as an ongoing series. E-mail

Since you've already split it up into sections, he may be able to run a
segment a week or something like that.
Thanks a lot.
