RE: Downloading MP3 Direct Cut

2016-07-25 Thread Robert Nelson

Go to the web page:

http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html

Go down the page to the heading that says:
Download MP3 Direct Cut

Below that heading you will see 3 links pointing to sites where you may
download the program. The first link is to www.fosshub.com which is the free
open source software hub and probably the best site to download from. Try to
avoid www.softpedia.com because you may find yourself downloading things you
do not want.

If you are proposing to use MP3 Direct Cut as a sound editor, be warned that
you may find it confusing at first but if you get someone with sight to explain
to you what is happening on the screen, you will eventually find it quite
accessible. In fact, there are some parts of the program that talk so much
that you will wish you could tell it to shut up.

RE: Need Help Installing MP3 Direct Cut

2013-09-16 Thread Rob
I can tell you that MP3 Direct Cut does run on Windows7 64 bit computers.
Based on your description, I think the ID you were using when you tried the
installation may not have administrative rights. If there is another ID and
password you can enter when you start the computer, that ID may have
administrative rights. The first ID that was created on the PC should have
administrative rights.
The default location for MP3 Direct Cut on a 64 bit PC is Program Files
(x86). As a test, you can use Windows Explorer to navigate through the
directories of the computer to confirm that the folder exists.

Hello Jeff and list: Thanks a bunch; your instructions worked like a charm!

up to where I didn't have to crank my computer up so much! Now..if only I

volume up on that, it'd really be neat! But that may be asking for a bit
much! Thanks again for your help!

Tom,

These are my steps for increasing or decreasing the gain throughout a
file.
First, I do Ctrl-A to select the entire file, which is the same as Rich
did with marking the beginning and end of the file.

Use Ctrl-G to bring up the Gain menu.
You are now on a scroll bar for setting the gain level for the start of
the file. By default you're on 32 of 90; I usually lower the number to
something like 28 or 25 to moderately increase the gain.
Tab to the next scroll bar which sets the gain for the end of the file.
Set the same number for this if you want an even increase across the
entire file.

Press O to close the gain menu.
HTH,
Jeff

On my copy of Direct Cut, normalization is a few items below Gain in the
Edit menu. If you select the file as noted and go down to Normalize and
press enter, you should get a significant increase in volume.

With the file loaded, press the home key and then b to mark the
beginning. Press the end key and then n to mark the end. Go into the
Edit menu and try the default setting for the gain. Also, you may
want to just try normalizing, which often suffices.

Using Gain In MP3 Direct Cut

2013-06-18 Thread Tom Kaufman
Hello list: Hopefully someone can get me on the right track here: I know that
MP3 Direct Cut has a gain feature. I tried using it to raise the volume
level of a file I have, with no success! So I need step-by-step instructions
as to how to accomplish this! Using Windows XP and Jaws 14. Thanks for any
info or help you can impart!

With the file loaded, press the home key and then b to mark the
beginning. Press the end key and then n to mark the end. Go into the
Edit menu and try the default setting for the gain. Also, you may want
to just try normalizing, which often suffices.

On my copy of Direct Cut, normalization is a few items below Gain in the
Edit menu. If you select the file as noted and go down to Normalize and
press enter, you should get a significant increase in volume.

Re: Using Gain In MP3 Direct Cut

2013-06-18 Thread Jeff Samco

Tom,

These are my steps for increasing or decreasing the gain throughout a file.
First, I do Ctrl-A to select the entire file, which is the same as
Rich did with marking the beginning and end of the file.

Use Ctrl-G to bring up the Gain menu.
You are now on a scroll bar for setting the gain level for the start
of the file. By default you're on 32 of 90; I usually lower the
number to something like 28 or 25 to moderately increase the gain.
Tab to the next scroll bar which sets the gain for the end of the
file. Set the same number for this if you want an even increase
across the entire file.

Press O to close the gain menu.
HTH,
Jeff

Hello Jeff and list: Thanks for attempting to help me go directly to a
certain spot in a file, using MP3 Direct Cut! However I must be dense (or
maybe Jaws 14 works differently with this program) but I see no way to get
from one line to another! In other words, it says something like 630.00
(then it says Now..then gives the number! But there seems to be no way to
get Jaws to get on the number I want! I hope I've explained this clearly
enough! In an effort to not tie up the list with this, if you'd rather
contact me offlist, you may do so; email is tomca...@comcast.net

Hi, Tom,

I'll take a stab at what you might do different.

Control-P brings up the edit box with the time info in it.
The first number is the total length of the file shown in minutes, seconds
and fractions of a second. Hours would be shown if necessary.
The second number is the current position also listed in minutes, seconds
and fractions of seconds.
It is the current time that you need to edit. Be careful not to remove the
punctuation marks like apostrophe which delineate the minutes from second,
etc.

After editing, press Enter to jump to the new time location.
HTH,
Jeff

HTH,

MP3 Direct Cut is a free direct mp3 editor, splitter, cutter and
recorder.

Download it from
http://www.mpesch3.de

Here are some notes for keyboard shortcuts for basic operation of this
program:

Play and Stop by using the SpaceBar.
During playback, the F8 key will increase playback speed and F7 will
decrease it.

Rewind and fast forward using cursor left and right or page-up and
page-down.

The latter two keys move in larger increments than the first two.
The number of frames each pair moves can be set via the configuration
menu.

The Home key moves to the beginning of the file.
The End key moves to the end.

One can move to a specific location in a file by time.
Use Ctrl-P to bring up an editable text box showing the total time of the
file and the current time location.
Edit the current time location to where you wish to move, then press
Enter.

How to mark beginning and end points of a selection for deletion, saving
as a separte file, etc:

While playback is stopped,
Use the letter b to mark the beginning of a selection
Use the letter n to mark the end of a selection

When beginning and end points are set, use the Up-arrow and Down-arrow
keys to jumpt to each respectively.

The following commands use the numbers row above the letter keys,
not the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard.
These commands move by frame. One frame is roughly a 38th of a second:
1: Move the beginning mark of a selection one frame to the left
2: Move the beginning mark of a selection one frame to the right
3: Move the end mark of a selection one frame to the left
4: Move the end mark of a selection one frame to the right

With the following keys, one can exactly hear, where the margins of a
selection are:

F5: Plays the two seconds before the beginning mark of a selection
F6: Plays the first two seconds of a selection
F7: Plays the last two seconds of a selection
F8: Plays the two seconds after the end mark of a selection
F9: Plays a portion of the file around the selection as if the selection
had been deleted

To remove a selection one can press the delete key.
This does not touch the MP3 file.
It just modifies an MP3DirectCut index.
Therefore, deletes and cuts are made quickly.

There are also menu options and shortcut keys to save a selection into a
different file.
For instance, Ctrl-E will save the selection with the opportunity

choose its own filename.
and Ctrl-W will save the entire audio using the current name or edit it to
something different.

To split an MP3 file, which consists of a complete album, one can use the
pause detection feature, which can be reached via the menu system.
It will set a marker before each song. These markers are actually
selections with a length of zero.
To check the markers, one can go from one to the other with Control
cursor right and Control cursor left.

The file can then be split according to the markers.
Or one can save a cue sheet file or an MP3 DirectCut project file.
Both would contain the markers.
With these marker files, one can easily find certain positions in an MP3
file.

To go to a specific time position within the audio file, use Control-p.
The displayed edit box is a bit odd.
Don't delete the words in it, just modify the numbers for the current
file position.
One has to leave in place the apostrophes, which separate hours minutes
and seconds.

The program needs these apostrophes

Then, there are the recording shortcuts.
r: Opens the record dialog, in which sighted people can adjust the
recording level

p: Starts the recording, when the recording dialog is open
s: Stops the recording.

When beginning and end points are set, use the Up-arrow and
Down-arrow keys to jumpt to each respectively.

With the following keys, one can exactly hear, where the margins of
a selection are:

F5: Plays the two seconds before the beginning mark of a selection
F6: Plays the first two seconds of a selection
F7: Plays the last two seconds of a selection
F8: Plays the two seconds after the end mark of a selection
F9: Plays a portion of the file around the selection as if the
selection had been deleted

To remove a selection one can press the delete key.
This does not touch the MP3 file.
It just modifies an MP3DirectCut index.
Therefore, deletes and cuts are made quickly.

There are also menu options and shortcut keys to save a selection
into a different file.
For instance, Ctrl-E will save the selection with the opportunity
to choose its own filename.
and Ctrl-W will save the entire audio using the current name or
edit it to something different.

To split an MP3 file, which consists of a complete album, one can
use the pause detection feature, which can be reached via the menu system.
It will set a marker before each song. These markers are actually
selections with a length of zero.
To check the markers, one can go from one to the other with
Control cursor right and Control cursor left.

The file can then be split according to the markers.
Or one can save a cue sheet file or an MP3 DirectCut project file.
Both would contain the markers.
With these marker files, one can easily find certain positions in
an MP3 file.

To go to a specific time position within the audio file, use Control-p.
The displayed edit box is a bit odd.
Don't delete the words

Hi, Kevin,

I wrote up these instructions for using MP3 DirectCut a year or more
ago. I think it will answer most if not all of your questions. If
something isn't answered, just email me about it.

HTH,
Jeff

MP3 Direct Cut is a free direct mp3 editor, splitter, cutter and recorder.
Download it from
http://www.mpesch3.de

Here are some notes for keyboard shortcuts for basic operation of this program:

Play and Stop by using the SpaceBar.
During playback, the F8 key will increase playback speed and F7 will
decrease it.

Rewind and fast forward using cursor left and right or page-up and page-down.
The latter two keys move in larger increments than the first two.
The number of frames each pair moves can be set via the configuration menu.

The Home key moves to the beginning of the file.
The End key moves to the end.

One can move to a specific location in a file by time.
Use Ctrl-P to bring up an editable text box showing the total time of
the file and the current time location.

Edit the current time location to where you wish to move, then press Enter.

How to mark beginning and end points of a selection for deletion,
saving as a separte file, etc:

While playback is stopped,
Use the letter b to mark the beginning of a selection
Use the letter n to mark the end of a selection

Several questions regarding manipulating a file in mp3 Direct Cut

2013-05-12 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi.

I have this program, and I'm not understanding how to split a file into
several files. I understand you mark the beginning of the part you want to
work with by pressing the B key, and marking the end with the N key, but I'm
puzzled after that. I understand how to delete the part you've selected,
but I have no idea how to split it from the original file to save as its own
part.

Speaking of marking a file, I have two other questions. First, how do you
mark a file from the beginning to a certain point, or from a specific place
to the end. As an example, I have a track that has about a second of the
next track in it. I want to get rid of this portion of the file. What do I
do in Direct Cut to accomplish this. My second question is related. How do
I move the beginning and end markers to exactly mark the part of a file that
I want to work with? Let's say I don't exactly have the part of a file I
want to delete. How do I fix this? I just thought of a third question.
How do you get mp3 Direct cut to start from the beginning of what's
selected, or the beginning of a file, for that matter. Right now if I press
space it starts playing at the beginning of the file. If I hit SPACE again
it pauses the file, and when I hit it again the file starts playing from
where it was paused. Is there either a way to play from the beginning, or
better yet is there a way to enter the time where you want to start playing
something? One final question. How do I get Direct Cut to play what has
been selected? As an example, I have a track with extra stuff in it that I
want to get rid of. How do I play just the selected part so I can adjust
the beginning and end to get rid of it?

I know that's a lot of questions, and I've looked at the manual, but I
didn't see my answers, or I don't understand. Thanks in advance for the
help.

Splitting Files in MP3 Direct Cut

2013-05-08 Thread Rich De Steno
I successfully auto split a few MP3 files in MP3 Direct Cut by using
Auto Q in the Special menu and then Save Split in the file menu. I did
this leaving the default symbols and words in the edit box named File
Name Creation. Then I removed that default and attempted to type in a
new file name. Ever since then, I get an error message stating that the
files cannot be saved. The program warns that you must use per cent
sign N, but fails to explain where or how. I need to know either what
the default was in this edit box when the splitting worked correctly or
I need to know what to type in that box to allow for this auto splitting.

joining files, i have some questions about mp3 direct cut

2012-11-04 Thread Vítek
Hi guys,

What's the problem? You can simply and effectively join files using the command
line and there's nothing easier. You'll have it done literally by several secs!
Why do we have to install bulky apps when Windows themselves make this
possible? Just type

copy /b c:\target\*.mp3 c:\joinedfilename.mp3

the only problem but that goes with any program of this nature too is the
meta-informations such as ID3 tags, headers of the separate files etc. the
files are supposed to be in the identical bitrate either constant, variable or
average e.g. 128kb/s and the frequency range e.g. 44.100Hz, however, I don't
have any idea on how different bitrate impacts on the joined files.

Of course when you have .ogg or .wma files you can join them using the asterix
symbol and appropriate format. Different formats can't be joined but that's
something being clear I think. Also folders and subfolders can be used
according to our needs.

If you have problems with the command line you can create text file in Notepad
for instance, type all things needed as above, rename the extension to .bat and
there we go.

You can also create the list as something like discography using the magic of
the command line like

dir c:\music\* /s /b /o /n c:\My_Music.txt

note: /s - dirs and subdirs, /b - just file names with no dates, /o /n - by
alphabetical order. In the resulted file you can delete c:\music\ (ctrl+f) in
Notepad for example since it's in every line and it's a real pain having to
haveit read before each relevant entry. When I need to share or offer something
with a friend of mine I often do this not having to use these controls in for
example Total Commander which also makes it possible but not with the
subfolders so ÿou've gotta do it all manually anyway.

Hi again,

One more thing I forgot to mention so just briefly, as I was refering to the
discografy part of the e-mail regarding the dir command, it's possible to
create playlist .m3u files this way opening .m3u file via Notepad, edit the
relative or absolute target pathes to the files themselves and that's it. You
can create the .m3u file right away from the command line eventually and let
Windows do all the boring protracting work for you not having to mess around
with that:).

Hi, Chris,

I read somewhere that this is possible with MP3Direct Cut using
cut/copy and paste, but I didn't get it to work for me. I use an
older version, I think 1.31, which has a much cleaner and simpler way
of doing it. Hopefully you can find an old version still with this

Use the letter n to mark the end of a selection

F9: Plays a portion of the file around the selection as if the
selection had been deleted

To remove a selection one can press the delete key.
This does not touch the MP3 file.
It just modifies an MP3DirectCut index.
Therefore, cuts are made quickly.

There are also menu options and shortcut keys to save a selection
into a different file.
For instance, Ctrl-E will save the selection with the opportunity to
choose its own filename.
and Ctrl-W will save the entire audio using the current name or edit
it to something different.

To split an MP3 file, which consists of a complete album, one can use
the pause detection feature, which can be reached via the menu system.

Don't delete the words in it, just modify the numbers for the
current file position.
One has to leave in place the apostrophes, which separate hours
minutes and seconds.
The program needs these apostrophes

Then, there are the recording shortcuts.
r: Opens the record dialog, in which sighted people can adjust the
recording level
p: Starts the recording, when the recording dialog is open
s: Stops the recording.

There is a way to join files with mp3Directcut, but it is a bit of a fiddle.

1. Open the first file.

2. Press ctrl+c to copy it to the clipboard.

3. Open the next file.

4. Press ctrl+v to paste from the clipboard. This will place the contents
of the clipboard before your current file, effectively

joining the two.

Hi, Chris,

I read somewhere that this is possible with MP3Direct Cut using
cut/copy and paste, but I didn't get it to work for me. I use an
older version, I think 1.31, which has a much cleaner and simpler way
of doing it. Hopefully you can find an old version still with this feature.

someone wrote me that you can open a file copy it the open
another file and paste the original file you copied to it with control v
once the second file is opened. that works as long as both files are
sampled at the same rate cause I tested it. but I agree the previous
version I remember probably 1.31 had menu items which would do it for you.

Yes, it works perfectly. I use it all the time. It does not appear to
require any kind of scripting, but some of its advanced features will
require you to have a knowledge of how digital audio works.

For trimming or separating files, nothing is easier. For normalizing and
resetting volume it's an absolute treat.

The fact that it does not have to unpack compressed files to edit them means
that editing does not result in audio quality loss.

It is a must-have in your toolkit.

Yes, it works perfectly. I use it all the time. It does not appear to
require any kind of scripting, but some of its advanced features will
require you to have a knowledge of how digital audio works.

For trimming or separating files, nothing is easier. For normalizing and
resetting volume it's an absolute treat.

The fact that it does not have to unpack compressed files to edit them
means that editing does not result in audio quality loss.

It is a must-have in your toolkit.

Re: i have some questions about mp3 direct cut

2012-11-01 Thread Jeff Samco
Hello, I have used MP3DirectCut for years. Because of previous
inquiries I have written up a basic guide to keyboard commands for
this editor. Enjoy.

Jeff

MP3 Direct Cut is a free direct mp3 editor, splitter, cutter and recorder.
Download MP3 DirectCut from
http://www.mpesch3.de

Play and Stop by using the SpaceBar.
During playback, the F8 key will increase playback speed and F7 will
decrease it.

Rewind and fast forward using cursor left and right or page-up and page-down.
The latter two keys move in larger increments than the first two.
The number of frames each pair moves can be set via the configuration menu.

How to mark beginning and end points of a selection for deletion,
saving as a separte file, etc:

While playback is stopped,
Use the letter b to mark the beginning of a selection
Use the letter n to mark the end of a selection

With these marker files, one can easily find certain positions in an MP3 file.

To go to a specific time position within the audio file, use Control-p.
The displayed edit box is a bit odd.

Kim and list: MP3 Direct Cut is a program that is useful in trimming
files; let's say you have a file that has stuff on the end of it that you
don't need: well..you can run it through this little program and get rid
of it! There are other uses for it as well, but I'll save that for others

Re: Looking for mp3 direct cut

2012-01-11 Thread Jeff Samco
Because of the renewed interest in MP3 DirectCut, below are some
notes I've made for myself and later expanded for the new user to get
a start on using this helpful program.

HT H,

How to mark beginning and end points of a selection for deletion,
saving as a separte file, etc:

While playback is stopped,
Use the letter b to mark the beginning of a selection
Use the letter n to mark the end of a selection

The following commands use the numbers row above the letter keys,
not the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard.

1: Move the beginning mark of a selection one frame to the left
2: Move the beginning mark of a selection one frame to the right

With the following keys, one can exactly hear, where the margins of a
selection are:

F5: Plays the two seconds before the beginning mark of a selection
F6: Plays the first two seconds of a selection
F7: Plays the last two seconds of a selection
F8: Plays the two seconds after the end mark of a selection
F9: Plays a portion of the file around the selection as if the
selection had been deleted

To remove a selection one can press the delete key.
This does not touch the MP3 file.
It just modifies an MP3DirectCut index.
Therefore, cuts are made quickly.

There are also menu options and shortcut keys to save a selection
into a different file.

Both would contain the markers.

To go to a specific time position within the audio file, use Control-p.
The displayed edit box is a bit odd.
Don't delete the words in it, just modify the numbers for the
current file position.
One has to leave in place the apostrophes, which separate hours
minutes and seconds.

The program needs these apostrophes

Then, there are the recording shortcuts.

The web address I sent you is what you want to use, as it is shown, exactly. I
ran the installation of the program I have, which works fine, and then ran
through the entire setup to verify it. The web address is what is displayed
when the download box is up on the desktop. All you have to do is copy the link
I sent to you into the address bar. When you click 'Enter', the download for
the mp3 direct cut should come up.

Hi,
Are Mp3 direct cut and avs software the same thing?  If so, he program gave me
all kinds of extra files to download, and then I couldn't get the program to
speak at all.  I am using Window-eyes 7.52.  Are there any other programs which
split mp3 files?
Thanks.

It is a program you can use to record and edit mp3 files. It will not
convert other file formats, though. They would have to be converted using
other programs.

Kim and list: MP3 Direct Cut is a program that is useful in trimming
files; let's say you have a file that has stuff on the end of it that you
don't need: well..you can run it through this little program and get rid
of it! There are other uses for it as well, but I'll save that for others
who are more qualified to speak on this than I am!

You're halfway there, Tom. After doing Ctrl-O and a shift tab, yes, you're
in your last used folder. Shift tab 2 more times to a list of folders. It
never seemed to be in any order I could figure out. I do a left or right
arrow to then enable me to up arrow in the list. You will likely find a
folder at a higher level than the one you wish to go to to locate your MP3
file to edit. Leave that higher level folder selected in that list. Now
tab twice to the list which will show all the folders and files under the
higher level folder you just selected. If you need to go to deeper levels
of folders, just select the next folder you need to open and press Enter.
You can keep doing this until you reach the folder with the file you need
to edit.

MP3 Direct Cut Question

2011-07-15 Thread Tom Kaufman
Hello list: As the subject line indicates, I have a question concerning MP3
Direct cut: let's say I want to take a part of a file and make a new file out
of it unto itself; can this be done? In other words, I may have a whole file
and there's a section of the file I want to keep, but not the _whole_ file;
will MP3 Direct Cut do this? Or do I have to just record the part of the file
I want, using something like Total Recorder (or another recording program)
thanks for your responses in advance!

as I recall, that program isn't that accessible. What I would do is to
put the file into goldwave, mark the section you want to cut out and
then do a save selection as. hth

You certainly can.

Use the B and N keys to select the beginning and end of the part you
want, then hit Control+E...I think. Anyhow, if I was wrong about the

and you can use this to save a part of a file to another file all of its
own.

Re: MP3 Direct Cut Question

2011-07-15 Thread Ann
actually, it is quite accessible, and you can edit MP3's without having
to uncompress and re-compress them. It can also record directly in to MP3.

Just look for the list of keyboard shortcuts in either the help menu or
in the manual, itself.

but, if you need to do any fancier editing, such as noise reduction,
click/pop removal, time stretch etc., then you need something like Goldwave.

Re: MP3 Direct Cut Question

2011-07-15 Thread Jeff Samco

Hi, Tom,

Yes you can easily do this.
Find the beginning point of the section you wish to save,
press the space bar to stop playback, press the letter B.
Then find the end point,
stop playback and press N.
At this point, you can fine tune the location of the beginning point
by pressing the numbers 1 and 2 respectively for moving this point
forward or backward.

Move the end point with 3 and 4 respectively.
These are the numbers on the top row of the keyboard and not the number pad.
You can listen to the audio around these two points,
use the F5 and F6keys to hear the few seconds of audio prior to and
following the beginning point,

and F7 and F8 to hear audio before and after the end point.
When your satisfied with these locations, press Ctrl-E to save this section.
You can edit the original filename to whatever you want it to be.

Jeff

Re: where to find MP3 Direct Cut tutorial

2010-10-31 Thread Jeff Samco
Which type of tutorial are you looking for? I have the MP3 audio
tutorial files. I can email them to you if you wish and if they make
it through any attachment barriers. I also have two different sets of
text instructions. One came off the internet and the other I have
worked up. I will paste both of them after my name below.

HTH,
Jeff

MP3 Direct Cut is a free direct mp3 editor, splitter, cutter and recorder.
Download it from
http://www.mpesch3.de

Some brief notes regarding keyboard shortcuts for this program are as follows:

Play and Stop by using the SpaceBar.
During playback, the F8 key will increase playback speed and F7 will
decrease it.

Rewind and fast forward using cursor left and right or page-up and page-down.
The latter two keys move in larger increments than the first two.
The number of frames each pair moves can be set via the menu system.

Marking a selection for deletion, saving as a separte file, etc:
Use the letter b to mark the beginning of a selection
Use the letter n to mark the end of a selection
NotePlayback must be stopped when marking the beginning and end of a
selection by using the Spacebar.

The following commands use the numbers row above the letter keys,
not the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard.
These commands move by frame. One frame is about a 38th of a second:
1: Move the left margin of a selection one frame to the left
2: Move the left margin of a selection one frame to the right
3: Move the right margin of a selection one frame to the left
4: Move the right margin of a selection one frame to the right

With the following keys, one can exactly hear, where the margins of a
selection are:

F5: Plays the two seconds before the left margin of a selection
F6: Plays the first two seconds of a selection
F7: Plays the last two seconds of a selection
F8: Plays the two seconds after the right margin of a selection
F9: Plays the file around the selection as if the block had been cut out

To cut a selection one can press the delete key.
This does not touch the MP3 file.
It just modifies an MP3DirectCut index.
Therefore, cuts can be made quickly.

There are also menu options and shortcut keys to save a selection
into a different file.

For instance, Ctrl-E will save the selection with its own filename.
and Ctrl-W will save the entire audio using the current name or edit
it to something different.

To split an MP3 file, which consists of a complete album, one can use
the pause detection feature, which can be reached via the menu system.

With these marker files, one can easily find certain positions in an MP3 file.

To go to a specific time position, Control-p can be used. The edit
box is a bit strange.
Don't delete the words in it, just modify the numbers for the
current file position.
One has to leave alone the apostrophes, which separate hours minutes
and seconds.

The program needs these apostrophes

Then, there are the recording shortcuts.
r: Opens the record dialog, in which sighted people can adjust the
recording level

p: Starts the recording, when the recording dialog is open
s: Stops the recording.

My personal set of Notes.

Page Up to move back or page down to go forward in fairly large time
increments.

Use left and right arrows to move in smaller increments.
Space bar to begin and stop playback.
Ctrl F4 to close a window within MP3 Direct Cut.

Recording
Consider muting Window Eyes.
Press R to open recording screen.
Press P to begin and S to stop.
If Append is checked in the configuration window, stopping and
restarting recording will continue in the same file thus acting as a
pause function.

Marking beginning end of selection.
Press B for beginning or N for end while playback is stopped.
1 and 2 will adjust begin point B backward or forward.
3 and 4 will adjust end point N backward or forward.
These commands move by frame and are quite precise.

To listen to where the B and N marks are, use f5 and f6 to hear
before and after point B; and use f7 and f8 to hear before and after point N.
Use F9 to hear what the audio would be like if you were to delete the
currently selected segment of audio.

To append a file you must be using the older version 1.39:
Open the file to be appended to the end of another file,
Open File Menu and select Append To.
Press Shift Tab to locate file to append it to.
When desired file is found, just press Enter and it is done.
Then close this window with Ctrl F4.

press Control+A to select all, and then I believe the keystroke is
Control+D. This should open up a dialog box like a Windows explorer
window to allow selection of the file to append

Re: trouble splitting files with mp3 direct cut

2010-08-31 Thread Kelly Pierce
the production work needed is manual not automatic. I find it
necessary to use the JAWS cursor to go to the time menu in MP3 Direct
Cut to move to a time location in the file to edit it into discrete
segments without splitting it at random time intervals and chopping
off an interesting sscene or conversation. Getting to a time location
in MP3 direct Cut is explained in the audio tutorial.

MP3 Direct Cut question

2010-05-02 Thread Johnny Angel!

Hi all,

I finally got the enc.dll file properly installed. I even created
several tracks out of an mp3 file that was initially a single 46
minutes in length. May I say a resounding yes! Then I tried to
split an mp3 file that says it is 82' 04.17 minutes long. When I
clicked on the Save split option under the file menu, I got an error
message that said something like:

'Not possible! No edit range is present.'

How could I fix this so I can split this long file into several 5 min tracks?

Thanks,

Johnny

The way I move to a spot in a large file is to:
press Ctrl + P
This brings up the edit box with the total time of the file and the
current position indicated by elapsed time.

You can edit the elapsed time data to the time you wish to jump to
then press Enter when your ready to execute it.

You can manually split the file into tracks, going track by track. Press
B at the beginning of the track and then press N at the end of the track.
Press CTRL+E to save this selected track to a new file. You do this for
each track and you will have a separate MP3 file for each track.

You can manually split the file into tracks, going track by track. Press
B at the beginning of the track and then press N at the end of the track.
Press CTRL+E to save this selected track to a new file. You do this for
each track and you will have a separate MP3 file for each track.

Yes. Use B to set beginning, and n to set end of sollection. Use CTRL+E to
save the current sellection. To refine your selection, press 1 and 2 to move
the beginning mark back and forth, and 3 and 4 to move the end sellection.
For other commands, use the manual.

RE: Splitting a File into Tracks with MP3 Direct Cut

2009-09-14 Thread dean martineau
You can also use the Pause Detection feature on the Special menu to detect
pauses and set cue points which can be used to automatically split the file.
I haven't done much of this but that's the theory and it probably works
pretty well if you get your pause length right.

Using mp3 direct cut

2009-08-06 Thread Stumpy
Hi, I've trimmed a piece of music using mp3 direct cut and now I'd like to save
it in a file that has the clip playing 3 or 4 times in a loop. I've seen the
selection to play the clip in a loop, but how do you save it?

Thanks for your help,
Scott
