Hi,
Since I was interested in the new 18-135 zoom, and more after having seen in
person how (relatively) compact is, I was impatiently awaiting the Photozone
test. Some preliminary comments were not very promising and the final test has
confirmed the worst predictions:

Well, the focus is more than a bit off, but somehow I liked the dreamy
quality that produced, and the sharper versions of this scene focus
too harshly on the couple under the falls.

I tried to download the file, but saving as source nets an MPEG-4
file. Smugmug must process the AVI for display (only makes sense, AVI
is not a very good distribution format).

I did some more experiments today. In SL1 slave mode the 540 doesn't

I've considered this same thing, though Pentax normally do manage to
make a nice improvement between models. Personally I've decided to

To use the AF-540FGZ this way you treat the non-wireless flash, in this
case the ring flash, as a "master" and set the 540 in non-wireless Slave
mode. It will then fire immediately that it sees another flash go off in
its vicinity.
You have to set the Slave Mode to SL2 to make this work. See
