Yep, there are third party suppliers at 1/3 to 1/4 the price. Unfortunately a DIY with a generic 8.4 volt adapter is difficult as Pentax uses a unique pin not found in the city electronic stores like Radio Shack. I just don't understand why Pentax does not use the generic Japanese standard pins
