In the situation you describe I would first see if the destination
media could be changed to better accommodate the out of gamut colors.
For example,and image with lots of out of gamut colors on matte paper
may be fine on a glossy paper.

Super image! The grain in front gets rather abstracted - find myself
getting lost in it. I don't mind the lens flare - actually I think it
adds to the dynamic nature of the image. The blown out area is a bit
large though. But the foreground textures are really fantastic.

behind his house. Mz-S, DFA 100 f2.8 macro, Tri-X @400 developing
Interesting - doesn't "feel" like a night shot since the exposure is up
to normal but then the stars are in the sky... Most striking to me is
how the lens distortion makes it look like the road is curved up like
its cradling the car. Cool shot.
