The 1.4 DA converter plus D FA 150-450 is a great combo. Nearly as sharp as the
lens alone. It vignettes a bit on full frame, but that’s rarely a problem,

I’m right where you are. With both the K-2 and K-3, 25600 seems to be the
practical limit. The K-1 shows a slight advantage, probably due to sensor size.
When shooting birds or sports I try to keep it at 6400 or less, but go with

Strange creature! Nicely captured, but perhaps in need of a slight levels
adjustment to brighten the midrange.

Gawd. Have to proofread. Reading the listing on my phone I see that if one
scrolls down past all manner of peripheral information, it says, “packaging may
reveal contents.” Unbelievable!

I will stick to B from now on. I saw no notice about original packaging on
the site but didn’t study it. I’ll see what happens. If it arrives in the
Pentax box again, I will refuse it at the door.

Some may recall that I received a $1600 70-200/2.8 lens form Amazon last week
that was delivered in the Pentax box with a label stuck on it. I checked the
autofocus fine tuning and found it way out of range. I called Amazon and told
them it was defective, and that they can’t ship lenses without

Thanks Subash. The bird is on a lower, inner branch of a large white pine, so
the limb is devoid of needles. You can see some out of focus needles in the
background.

Very nice. Excellent detail and pleasing color combinations. Are your birds
accustomed to the presence of humans? Even though my birds are somewhat
conditioned to my being in the yard, I could never get close enough to get a
good shot with a 300mm lens.
