Who knows? The cameras haven't be released yet. Some people take
pictures with cameras and not spec sheets.

Mike. Fortunately I am fairly thick (-skinned). I drive an SUV ( I think) and
regularly pay $7 near enough a gallon - mind you ours are bigger than yours
And you base this prediction on what? Based on the fact that Pentax has
7 film bodies in production based on two chassis, and, well we have Pål's
word for the fact that Pentax will be cutting the film camera line back
to 3 models. Why wouldn't they make at least 3 different Digital models.

Yeah, it is not a secret, it´s a lie.
Well, I haven't used all that many Canon or Pentax AF products, but I can

Each sensor location has at lest two sensors: one with fine gradations
for regular light and another with coarser gradations for low light. So
Nikon trades off some focusing precision in low light for faster
performance. Cross pattern sensor locations have a total of 4 sensors.
So the AF in

Thanks for the observations. I've been to Japan a few times on business.
I've noticed a few things in wandering around Akihabara stores and, say,
Yodobashi Camera near Shinjuku station. One is that Japanese products like

I think the Pentax smaller size may well appeal to the PS crowd if they can
make them auto and light enough. The ZX line seems to have accomplished
this. For just everyday beating around I like to carry either my ZX-M or
even a PZ-10 with a small light beater lens because of their small size,

When I

What is it about the Minolta lenses that make you choose Minolta over Pentax
Well as you may well know the 9xi is a pro body. I don't think it's so much

I've got a Nikon D100. It's AF performance is *not* ahead of Pentax.
In bright light and with an AF-S lens, the Nikon sometimes seems to
autofocus slightly
So the trick for Pentax consumers is to get a DSLR with first-rate AF.
Pentax can make such a camera; the question is - will they do it. If
they install a second-tier AF in the *istD by some misguided attempt
at providing themselves an upgrade path, it will only hurt sales.
From what I can see,
All,
Based on my limited knowledge of the Japanese photo and electronics market,
it seems to me that Pentax really addresses their home market first. It
also seems to me that it is probably not very accurate to judge the future
of the company based on their position in, say, Norway or even the
There was discussion of that point here a few years ago. If I recall
correctly, Pentax cares mainly about the home market. Anything sold
elsewhere is just gravy. I assume this is why we can't get black
limiteds in the U.S.
