If that's the case I might give it a go, when I can find the time.

Apple stopped bundling Java when Mountain Lion shipped, I think. At least two
or three major releases back. It has come from Oracle since.

I would think Oracle has an installer for Java for MacOS. If Apple
bundles Java then it is probably their own flavor. Personally I would
rather use official java. Microsoft used to have its own java stack
and it was terrible.

I'm not sure this is true, yet.
What is true is that macOS Sierra does not ship with the Java engine in place,
which PS CS5 depends upon. However, there is now a Java download for macOS
Sierra ... with that installed, PSCS5 should work. I might try it when I get
back to my desk.

Ooh. Yeah I think you are right. I have windows 10 here and do
not have any backwards compatibility issues asides from a few old
windows9x games.

Just get the serial number for the installation of CS5 and reinstall
when you upgrade your OS. Pretty easy really.

they were no longer supporting CS6 right after I shelled out $650 for
the upgrade (CS6 Extended, because there was no CS6 Standard available).

Oh and I forgot that adobe now has k-1 and k-3 ii profiles built in as
well. So you aren't stuck with just adobe standard or embedded
anymore. You can pick natural, portrait, etc. I rarely use anything
other than reversal film (which sadly isn't supported) so the profiles
are pretty useless to me.
Yes you can just convert pef to dng with the dng converter. Or you can
shoot DNG and just open the raw. Do note that the K-1 has a bunch of
advanced features that the older camera raw does not support like
multiple area white balance. In the latest lightroom, it works with
the K-3 or at least it

The K1 PEF is not supported. Adobe ended support for CS6 Camera Raw with

The only reason to use PEF format is if you're shooting a *ist-D since
it doesn't support DNG or you need to save space, as early
implementations on Pentax cameras produced DNGs 130% to 200% the size of
a PEF file. That hasn't been an issue for quite some time.

I doubt that they're compatible. You want DNG anyway. It's a more standard file
type.

According to Adobe's web site:
K-1 DNG & PEF are supported by Adobe Camera Raw 9.5.1 or later.
ACR for Photoshop CS6 will not be updated beyond 9.1.1.
I'm still using Photoshop CS6 Extended with the default Camera Raw
plugin (7.0) and have had no problems with Pentax K-1 DNG files.
I switched
