That's interesting. So you're saying there is a sufficiently high
speed that SR doesn't kick in but mirror slap does have an effect?

Certainly the ability to examine images under a microscope has had a
big part in much of the concern about the K-x and many other cameras
of late. As I go back scanning images shot with my many film
cameras, I see all kinds of things, that I wouldn't have noticed just
from examining proof prints.
By all accounts the K-x, (and I have no direct experience here), has a
rather loud shutter, at least compared to the K20D and especially the
new K-7. I'll bet that the noise is contributing to the percipient
mirror slap problem with certain individuals diligently looking for the
problem, which

I think that the problem shows at speeds around 1/100 sec, not at
lower ones, and

Is the lower shutter speeds what people are complaining about, or is
this "slap" at various speeds and SR on and or off.
I have not looked into this yet.

I decided to try a semiformal test of shake problems in my K-x, both
with and without shake reduction on.
I started at 1/200 second and increased the shutter speed up to 0.8
seconds.
ISO 200, FA 31, shot from about 30"
With shake reduction off it was only steady down to about 1/13 second
