If I understand you correctly (which is not 100% certain), the front
element of my DA* 16-50 exhibits similar behavior. Never noticed it
before and never saw any bad image quality that I could attribute to
such movements...
I must say, Larry, that when I first read the headline of the message,
My FA70-200/4-5.6, the power zoom one for the PZ-1, had a wobbly front
element. It drove me nuts, but never seemed to affect image quality.
It was/is a good lens.

lens, and gave proportionately disappointing results.

movement, but it's a sub-millimeter distance. I assume it's because
plastic can't be machine
There's a certain looseness in all auto-focus lenses. I don't know if
that behavior is normal for the 16-50 but I've never seen it reported
before.
