Wow! Doesn't Canon have a 50/1.2? Wonder what that's going for now? (These
days it seems silly to write questions like the latter with the verb to
google so ubiquitous and virtually effortless--hence, it's selling on amazon
for $1,400.) Cheers, Christine

It could be the Favorable exchange rates some currencies are
experiencing vs the USD. Though I'd expect the buyers to be from Euro
countries, (and maybe GB as most other places either have their
currencies pegged to the dollar, or their currencies have been doing
worse than the dollar).
kevincamera has been listing these for $650 or so for quite some time.
considering that the A85/1.4 are fetching $1K (give or take a few bucks),
i am not that surprised.
there's another very sweet auction is going on, i am wondering how far
that will go...

About the time I was buying my K85/1.8 glass, prices were easily in the
$600.00 range. I purchased a damaged one for $350.00, put it on eBay, and
got $475.00 for it, and another, also damaged, went to a list member for
$375.00. The really nice ones went for $600.00 or a bit more.

I've noticed that a few AF lenses that I was looking at in ebay went for
close to retail. Has anyone noticed this recently? I'm wondering
whether the release of the *istD is responsible for some of this.
For example, a recent auction of an FA* 80-200 2.8 went for almost

Remember many folks who by from Ebay are out in the boonies and there are no
shops that sell reasonalbly nearby. They are also not knowledgable about the NYC
places. So what seems like a lot to us, may seem like a bargain to them.
