Yeah, the format was not really right for such a pic, and I sorta suck at
such things anyway

Hi,
Thanks for your comments.
As for the barn being too close to the frame edge, I sort of agree. I
wanted it close to emphasize the perspective, but I didn't want it quite
that close. However, there was a pole a little bit to the right, and I
thought about leaving it in the frame, but it was

Nope - it seems to be a non-issue out in the country and rural areas. I'm
pleased that you like the photo.

I think the busyness of the shot is what makes it. The two planks in lower
left, lead the eye towards the building, making a fine triangle. That's
good.
I think I'd prefer the grass a bit lighter, but I'm looking at my laptop
screen, so don't take my word for it.

I think you chose the 'only' angle, which was one that had to include
the fence. I'm sure some thought had to, also, involve the amount of
the side structure to allow.
Excellent choices!

Nice shot. I like the composition and framing. Can't comment on the
conversion, because I'm looking at it on my laptop with sun streaming
in the window.

Hey Marn, that's not half bad. Yeah, works
Nice tonal separation. Not too busy. It would look better larger I think.

Hi Marnie
Great composition - 5-10 minutes well spent!
The conversion does seem to lack a bit of tonal range but I'm not sure how PS
Elements carries out the conversion and what options it provides.
There's an excellent article on BW conversions here that you might like to
look at.

The angle on the barn looks great. The tonalities look very good
overall.
The foreground is distracting.

As a practical matter, and as I stated to Marnie, I thought the
foreground was well selected. I do feel, however, that it might have
helped had she grown a little taller. :))
