of the instrument) has nothing to do (or very loose connection) with
reality.
I do not know the roots of this saying, but it have been used here for
quite a long time. Most probably it's a translation from russian. W

My constant compainion back in the mid 1960's was a Yashica Lynx 14
with a 1.4 lens. Great little rangefinder

Yes, interchangeable but only the front optics group. My mom had the
Retina III, it was a very nice camera. Only ever had the standard 50mm
front optics group, though.
