Reading the specs it seems to me the migration has already
occurred...and in the opposite direction; that is, K-7 technology has
migrated to the 645D.
While Canikon normally trickle down their techie goodies from their
$8k bodies down to their $1k bodies, Pentax has decided to think
differently,
Kodak makes good sensors, the rest of the support circuitry may not be
so good, so I hope Pentax is using it's own chipset.

It's a lens with a internal removable/interchangeable filter. The knob
is how you secure it once it's in place. The Front marking just
shows which way the filter drawer goes in. Most commonly found on big
telephoto lenses like
