Usually, when that's done, you're still able to see where the decals
were, the teardrop A-pillar lamp is still there, and you can see shadows
of the door badges. They don't repaint, and often don't even give the
car a washing. At least that's been the case with all of the ones I've
seen (three or four dozen over the years). I don't see any of that in

FS Friday with a twist: Wanna trade?

2015-01-16 Thread Mark Roberts
I've got some stuff to get rid off, but I'm going to take offers for
trades as well as cash. Why not? We've got some interesting people
with photography and computer stuff on the PDML, right?

Anyway...

Pentax A-645 200mm f/4.0 lens - near mint with box packing
This is a manual-focus lens for Pentax 645 cameras. It cost me over
$500.00 and that was less than half the new price, as I recall. Very
sharp. Will work on your new Pentax 645 digital (grin).
$150.00
...or offer me something interesting in trade

Visioneer 7300 flat bed scanner - EX condition
Needs Windows XP to run. I'm told it can be made to run under Windows
7 with Vue Scan or running a virtual XP machine (free download from
Microsoft) on your Win 7 computer. But I haven't tried either.
$20.00
...or offer me something interesting in trade

Minolta Scan Multi medium format/35mm scanner with bulk 35mm slide
feeder and SCSI-to-Firewire converter
This outfit prefers Windows XP but can be made to run on Win 7 (32-bit
only). I know because I did it... but it was a right pain to do so and
I can't guarantee you're as technically gifted (HAR!) as myself.
$200.00
...or offer me something interesting in trade

Shipping extra with each item, of course.

Yep, based on the photo, that one was part of an official buy. For
those who don't know, police departments often get their cars in batches
from the manufacturers, then send them to a cop prep shop to fit them
out to local department specs. This looks like someone told the cop
prep shop just leave the decals off a few. Maybe they wanted the
Blues Brothers market.

Subject: PESO Gothic Geisha

Emily Yoshizawa is a clothing designer, an artisan, a Japanese
language translator and a friend. She was keen to do another creative
photoshoot after having enjoyed our first collaboration last fall, so
I had her and a model friend over on Wednesday. My excuse of course
was to get more air time with the new lighting gear that Santa brought
me.

This is one of the first shots to shout loudly at me from the
Lightroom grid view:

Thanks Don, I try to learn from images I see and like to know the exposure
data as well so I tend to include it with the images I post.

The 200mm f4.0 macro is a truly exceptional lens.

Clicked on it to get the largest size. Amazing clarity in that ice. Great
Winter photo. Thanks for the exif as well. Nice to see what that lens can
do.

I see a cat face in the center of this, with features rendered in the
characters of an alien alphabet. But that's just me. Click on the image

good one) and then I'm out of new material until it snows again.

2015-01-16 Thread Igor PDML-StR

Actually, there was a cartoon character that I clearly see in this
snowflake, but I cannot recall what it's called or what cartoon it was in.
It's black and very aggressive, and if I remember correctly, there were
many of them...

Anybody?

You may very well be right. They were very small flowers. There's a
similar-ish looking flower I've seen somewhere down our street but it's red.

It got me thinking that it's a shame the camera doesn't record the
magnification ratio (it's an FA lens and I think they transmit focus distance
to the body). It does say Subject Distance Range: Macro.

Cheers,
Dave

Re: PESO: Sunbathing

Yes, he (or she) eventually ran away when someone got a little bit too close.
It was nice to see some exotic wildlife that was actually wild after all the
zoos and aquariums, although much of what we saw in captivity I wouldn't want
to meet in the wild.

Dave
