If you show it to your friends, it's published as far as British law is
concerned.
No and no. Previously published is a photo in a consumer magazine or
other format that was on sale to the public. Unless someone is paying
to see it, it is not published.

I sell a lot of photographs to magazines. I have never had a problem
with previously published unless the photo appeared on a printed page
in another mag. No one that I know worries about photos that have
appeared in obscure places on the net. Thus, PUG photos are not

Ann... Just to be fair, one has to join PDML in order to participate in
PUG, and those donations go to support the website and pay for the prizes. I
don't think usefilm.com is making a killing on this.
My guess is that the calendars are a lot like those sold by Photographer's
Edge.

and put together a series of decent images. Any gimp can take one decent
image by accident but putting together a mini portfolio is more of a
challenge and perhaps will help show a bit of your visual style.
